Went on 7/4. Chicken Parm and Veal parm were all burned. They didn't seem to care when it was mentioned. Apps (meatballs and aroncini) were great. Downhill with the 4 dinners :(

Ambiance and service were great. Food was not good at all. Chicken parm was burned and could only eat the center. Server offered to remake but it took 40 minutes the first time and the two others with me already had received their food. The others had rigatoni that was water logged - grossly enlarged from soaking too long. Express tow a dissatisfaction to the server, and she said she would tell the manager but we never saw the manager. The only thing that was perfect with the cake that we bought it ourselves and they served for us. They did have a large party wedding in the back room. And I believe that was the cause of the food issue.

I really like this restaurant. They have a good menu with lots of options. Our server, Nicole was super nice and attentive. The pizza was really good and flavorful. However the pasta dishes were tasteless. All of the meat and veggies within the pasta were fresh but it’s obvious the chef forgot ( how!!??) to salt the pasta water. I was puzzled by this (in business since 1927?). So it felt like chewing food with no flavor. The sauce on the pizza was good but the one with pasta was tasteless. Anyway do come here. Entree sizes were generous, prices fair for the location.

Dinner was very good. Wines expensive $10 6oz. glass of house white. We were seated quickly since we were there before it go too busy. Waitress forgot the Dewars. Wasn't on the check so, not that big a deal. Dessert came without the requested whip cream. Waitress apologized and quickly rectified the problem. Overall, not bad. I would go again.

I believe the Rosa is under new management, "Rose 3.0", and I took advantage of their recent promotion for a free takeout pizza. They posted on social media that they reworked their pizza and wanted the people of Portsmouth to try it. What a generous offer, and so try we did, and we were really pleased. So much so, that we have to find time to return to see what else they are doing here. I know the Rosa has been a staple in Portsmouth, but I've never had a chance to try it. Now, about that pizza. We found the sauce to be very tasty with plenty of tasty cheese topping, we could taste plenty of parmesan/romano in addition to the mozzarella. The crust was thin and delicious. For my taste, I would have liked it a little bit crispier, but perhaps the free pizza promotion caused them to rush them just a bit. We heard they received over 50 orders in the first 10 minutes of opening! So, while I haven't had anything else on the menu (yet), I can confidently say that I would order this pizza again. Thanks again for the generous offer for a free pizza!

A fixture of the waterfront area of Portsmouth. I remember this restaurant while growing up in Portsmouth. This was during the time State Street Discount was on State Street in Portsmouth, with the window poorly jammed with stuff. Also, Portsmouth looked run down and I remember Rosa Restaurant had a rough reputation. My mom and brother avoided this restaurant for some reason. Maybe because of all the ?️ motorcycles that parked out front most of the time.I came across an advertisement for 20% off your bill posted on the Taste of the Seacoast website for Rosa. I visited for lunch and "Woah!", to quote the Fonz! Very nice and stylish! The restaurant is under new management and renovations took place awhile ago. I tried the (Eggplant ?) Parmigiana Melt with french fries and unsweetened ice tea with lemon ?, which was refilled twice! The food tasted good, but, the fries felt bottomless! One after another! How did I fit that creamy tiramisu?! I just wanted to find a bench and take a nap ?!Service was friendly and excellent ?! Window seat, full bar and WiFi available. You can do takeout.Even though you may find parking ?️ a challenge, there are two parking ?️ lots nearby with parking ?️ on both sides of the street, I recommend a visit!

Visited my family this weekend for my birthday and chose the Rosa as my restaurant of choice. I'm so glad I did! Amazing service with smiles which is not seen too often anymore these days. The people who work here seem truly happy to be serving you. No wondering where your server is, they come to check on you regularly and are polite as can be. The food is delicious as well. Authentic, rich flavors, and generous with portions. We will definitely be back!

Since Marissimo was closed we went here. No comparison very disappointed. The server was very nice but food was not great.

Rosa does feel revitalized. At least the interior. Yes the menu still harkens back to the 90s when the only idea of “fine dining out” was limited to Italian restaurants like this, but the energy was great in there. The menu model is dated but if executed perfectly can be very welcome and comforting. I think they need to close the gap on this and improve the food. They have a lot of other good things going for them. But the food needs to hit that next level.Service staff was really great. I mean, extra great. I hope they work on the execution of the food some more, but it does feel like a big big improvement over the “old Rosa”.

My "go to" place when I'm in downtown Portsmouth! Plenty of parking and a great menu to choose from. The staff goes out of their way to serve the customers and the tables and bar, are spotless!Enjoy a drink, appetizers or a full meal. Worth the effort to dine there in these times!
