Narrowed down my choices and took the server's recommendation for the grilled cheese short ribs. So flavorful and extremely satisfying. Will be back.

We were looking for a light dinner one night while we were visiting Portsmouth. Went on Tripadvisor and The Kitchen came up. I ordered the Cuban and my husband ordered the turkey club. Both were amazing! We also ordered a small portion of their spudsters with the honey dipping sauce. SO GOOD and not even greasy. The order was ready when the app told us it would be. We brought it back to our hotel and really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this place.
The environment and atmosphere is great very cool whole in the wall restaurant but with great food. Ordered the ribs appetizer and it was great. The ribs fell of the bone and had a sticky sauce that was a little sweet and a little spicy which went great with the ribs. We ordered the Matty Melt and the Pulled Buffalo Chicken. The pulled Buffalo chicken was alright, the bread was good but the Buffalo sauce didn’t have a very strong buffalo taste to it. The Matty Melt was very good though. The cow slaw was awesome and the actually black bean burger was great with the sauce and salsa that was on top of it, would definitely order again.
Recently, we were in Portsmouth for a hockey tournament and my 13 year old son has celiacs disease. Very sensitive...I looked up gluten free restaurants in the area and The Kitchen came up so we tried it. So glad we did! They has many different gluten free options for him to choose from. He got the wings which were put into a designated fryer for gluten free, and they were amazing! They also had gluten free pasta, so he had a big plate with three gluten free meatballs on there. He was in heaven! Great little cozy restaurant...definitely recommend!
Really cool little place. Awesome bar. Great selection of drinks and food. The staff was very nice and helpful. My Duck burger was fantastic. The potato bites were good as well.
Love stopping into this cozy lunch spot when driving to/through Portsmouth. Favorites include: turkey reuben, Italian sub & spudsters with paprika aioli. Kids’ Mac & cheese also a hit!

Stopped for lunch on a Sunday when our first choice was too packed and SO glad we did. Turkey burger (pictured) was incredible and they didn't have any spudsters but subbed in potato wedges which we had with the paprika aioli...yum! Slaw and dressing was surprisingly super delicious. Fast service, very fair prices. Will definitely be back to try more menu items and cocktails the next time we are in town!
