Stopped in Portsmouth for a late lunch and went to the Hammer based on reviews and were not disappointed. Great cheese sticks, burgers and an awesome haddock sandwich. Janet, our server was friendly and helpful. Great place for good food!
Nice pub for drinks and light food. Very friendly service. Good drinks with a good selection. Very recommendable bar in downtown.
Go for the Smash burger - simply can't be beat. Friendly staff, great atmosphere, fair prices, great downtown location.

Small fun place decent food. Went on Saturday at 3 to try and catch Bruins game. No sound because they have a guitar player. Didn't seem the right time and too loud for a small place.
Acceptable pub food as a back up option to other full restaurants in town. Plenty of TVs to watch sports.
We had drinks there was a guitarist the night we were there. Great atmosphere, we went back the next morning for there brunch. The food was so delicious. Awesome home made corn beef hash. Manly 3 egg stake and cheese omelette was great.
We were visiting from RI and went on there recommendation of Dakota who we met while up North. Nice seasonal cocktails, service, and food.
There are a few good places for burgers in Portsmouth and The Hammer Pub is one of them. The smash burger is one of my new favorites in town. As for a quality pub that emphasizes good service and cold beer you can't go wrong here.
