excellent food & wait staff
Amazing food and great friendly service!
This was the summer of lobster and we were on the hunt. This has to be up there in my top selection, now not for size or quantity, but for the freshness of the flavor.
The view from the table was awesome! Great staff and friendly people!
We got here really early and they were gracious enough to make a table for 6. It was only about 10 minutes to wait. Abbe, our server was efficient, and cordial. They are very proud of their quick ticket times (and should be!) Cup of chowder was thick with large chunks of clam and quarter cut potatoes. A great value. The mussles app. was also fantastic! Lobster 6oz on a bulky roll was $30. Seafood prices are high everywhere though. This was our first visit here and we are excited about coming back!
We love the Old Ferry Landing and have been coming here for years. We enjoyed dining here last night, the opening night for their 48th year! They must be doing something right. The staff here is always pleasant and efficient, energy is high, and eating out on the deck on a nice day is hard to beat. We have never sat inside, and honestly if the weather isn't great, we look elsewhere. For us, it's all about the fun of being out on the deck. The food is consistently good here, whether you are enjoying one of the heaping mounds of fried seafood, or one of the pasta dishes. I tried the lobster bisque for the first time last night, and was impressed. Creamy, delicious and rich with a good amount of lobster meat. A must have is the "Jimmy Juice" cocktail, a rum punch concoction that is delicious and packs a punch. We usually order the fried seafood platter which offers a nice variety of crispy fried shrimp, clams, haddock and scallops. They do have some healthier broiled options, and the pasta dishes are also very good. Some may argue the prices are a bit higher here than other similar venues, but the quality and consistency are there, and the view along the water in downtown Portsmouth is hard to beat. For us, that makes it a good value. Don't hesitate to try.
A nice spot to sit seaside for a meal. I hesitate to ever order clam chowder anywhere because of too many disappointing ones. I felt adventurous this time, and true to most of my experiences, the clam chowder here was a major disappointment. It might have even been a special that promised something besides clams (shrimp?) yet there was virtually no seafood in this bowl, just plenty of potato, mush, and a fairly tasteless liquid. I realize that chowder is more of an art than a throw-together recipe (at least for my taste) and perhaps I was just spoiled with a couple of exceptional, flavorful ones over the years. The lobster roll and fries were excellent (I mean, I've never had bad ones anywhere in Maine, even when MacDonald's served them - remember that time?!). One fewer star for a pretty lousy chowder. Otherwise, a nice lunch spot.
Stopped by for a quick bite for dinner and had the chowder and lobster roll special. Both were very good and so was the service!
I had the broiled haddock and my wife had the stuffed haddock. Both meals were tasty and well portioned. Dined with my brother and his family on the outside dock. It's getting a little chilly this time of year and the space was a bit crowded but a very enjoyable evening out :-)
Staff was super friendly and attentive. Food came quickly, was fresh, and tasty. We ate outside and enjoyed the water views.
