The service was great. The oysters were good. The steak frites were not good. The steak was all fat and way over salted and over cooked. Not really worth it to go there for the food. The food there has gone way down hill for some reason. Iâd go back for just cocktails on the outside patio though.
Wednesday night movie date night, so dined early as did lots of families with little girls as there was a show at the theatre across the street the same night. Still enjoyed our table for 2 by the window as it was too hot to eat in the courtyard that night. Started with the strawberry salad with Romaine substituted for field greens. Nicely split for sharing. We both tried the nightly special salmon sandwich served with a choice of fries or Caesar salad. Even though we had a salad as appetizer, we both chose the salad option with the sandwich. Very generous portion (6 oz) of salmon on a delicious brioche roll with a tartar sauce-like spread was a nice combination of flavors. Even saved room for chocolate gelatto for dessert, served with a nice assortment of berries.
The Veal Holstein is to die for! Our waiter Andrew was excellent, we got to sit outside with very nice ambiance and great drinks too!
Great service. Our server Kyle was amazing! The food is excellent you need to try the can go wrong with the burger or the chicken sandwich or the pizza
I have not been to The Crown since before the pandemic when you served lunch. We dined outside and it was lovely - food, drink, atmosphere and service!!
The food here is amazing! I’ve been coming here regularly for about a year now and I’ve never been disappointed. They have amazing oysters, pizza and signature drinks. Waitstaff is always a pleasure. A couple of tips - they no longer take reservations the day of, buck and a half oysters are only 2 hour from 5 to 6PM on Tuesdays. My only request to the Crown Tavern is: can you please add creme brûlée to your dessert menu?
Best meal in a restaurant Ive had in eons! Their Bacon Mac & Cheese is to die for! Very nice out door seating and atmosphere. Its in the city so obviously lots of background noise, but you'll be too busy enjoying your meal to care. Their $4 table bread, INSANE! We went on Friday @5:00 without a reservation and was seated immediately. it filled up soon after.Parking garage 800 feet away. Cant wait to go back and try something else.
Brunette Waitress with glasses and blonde host were rude as hell. We called at 8:17pm and asked what time kitchen closed. The girl said 9pm. We got to the restaurant at 8:30pm and could tell they were already hesitant to take us. Was it because we weren’t dressed up? Was it because we were people of color? Who knows. We then asked to be seated on the side of the room instead of dead center and the hostess gave us attitude. Then the waitress was pointing at her watch and laughing. The hostess came over to tell us that the kitchen closes at 8:45pm. I told her that we called and probably spoke to her and was told it closed at 9pm and she was like “well it’s closing in 15 minutes”. We wouldn’t have bothered coming if we knew we only had 15 minutes. We got up and left. Very obvious discrimination.
Great cocktails and truffle fries!
So my wife and I showed up to the crown for our 5 oâclock reservations were seated promptly within a few minutes Are waitress Katrina come over with some water for the table. my wife and I had ordered the meatball appetizer which was fantastic came out promptly and was done correctly. Then came the entrées my wife ordered the hanger steak it was absolutely cooked perfect and was delicious she stated one of the best sheâs ever had. My entrée was a little different I had ordered the special which was the twin fillet wrapped in bacon asparagus with corn potato risotto Mine however was not cooked the way that I requested it medium and came out medium rare. When the waitress came over I had shown her and she immediately was going to take it back and as I explained to her unless they are going to cook a whole new meal they are going to overcook what I have already received. Waitress stated that she was going to say something to the kitchen but the manager never ever came over so therefore I do not know if the waitress ever told the manager what had truly happened. Needless to say I was not impressed with my entrée anyone who loves steak knows that itâs a one shot deal if it isnât cooked the way you like itâs going to be over cooked. If you send it back. There Attention to detail was lacking in so many ways gave us spoons to eat the chocolate cake and the whip cream profiteroles. There was NO steak sauce in the entire building!!! And the manager never once came over to ask us how are meal was were it was our first time ever being there. And the last thing was when the waitress saw my wife filling out the comment card she came over to the table and stated thatâs great youâre filling that out we all get a BIG kick out of reading them. After that comment I could not what to get out of there I was so upset, I wanted to walk up the street and talk to the owner of the chop house he was the one who recommended his other establishment.
