All three of my experiences here have been great! The first time I went was with a date on a weekend evening, and while we were prepared to play two person games together, as often happens when you get many table-top game lovers together, a group of strangers looking for "the more" in "the more the merrier" invited us to join them and it was A BLAST. The staff did a great job of helping juggle around the changing groupings and table configuration. The second two times I went alone between 4 and 6 on weekdays to read in the nice ambiance, and it was a good way to pass the late afternoon. Given the smaller volume of people and earlier hour it's not surprising that there didn't appear to be any mixing of parties for combined gaming these times, so that experience is definitely not an all-the-time patron culture thing.Everything I've consumed has been quite tasty, those being, the BLT and Caprese sandwiches, the Hundred Are Woods latte, several assorted cocktails, and the "Prancing Pony" which is one of a few mocktails on menu (which is nice that they have for those who want to come with friends to game, but not necessarily drink or consume caffeine too late).
Boards & Brews is my new favorite local hangout. Since I went the first time, I rapidly returned another 3-4 times.Their drinks are fantastic, the service is great, and it's clear they foster an environment of fun and relaxation. They do have some lunch/dinner items available, but I keep going for the garlic cheese bites (kinda like mini mozzarella sticks cut into pieces) and the connect 4. Vegetarian options are available.Then...the games. I don't think I've ever seen so many games packed into one place but they have classics you know and love and new games you've never tried but are sure to love. The staff can help you figure out a game to play and how to play it if you have questions. I've found several new favorite games with a night or afternoon there.I definitely recommend this spot for anyone looking to have fun and unwind a bit.
This place is phenomenal! Great, casual atmosphere and huge selection of games to choose from! This was our first time here so we asked our waiter about recommendations for what games to play and he didn't disappoint! You can tell the staff really enjoy being there and it was a great experience! Can't wait to go back soon! Thank you Boards and Brews!
Walked in and waited several minutes to even be greeted, waitress checked cell phone before even seating us. We were told we had 20 minutes before last call on food or drinks. Upon sitting and browsing the menu we decided on dessert and a pot of warm tea only to be told later that dessert wasn’t an option and to top that off the tea we wanted wasn’t even available. Definitely a terrible experience for my first time there. Cool concept for a hang out spot though. I feel like the staff lacks basic understanding of hospitality.
I've been to many bars. This one is unique. Games are a big part of it. Board games. I'll start with service. It not top notch. Bartenders and servers are slow. They are frequently catering to a very young crowd and thus a young crowd attitude. The bartenders and servers are slow. They also tend to shoot the breeze, jaw jack, socialize with each other. Neglecting those who pay the tab. Food items are limited. That no problem. I recommend the veggie platter. That was pretty good. So this middle aged guy suggests if you go here, be in your 20's, be a chicken nugget eater, and don't give a hoot about quick service. BTW I dropped $350 for the group and still tipped my server 20% because she showed up to work on a Saturday night.
One of my favorite spots in town! Being new in town, joining in on games with the regulars on Tuesdays was a great way to meet people and learn some new games. Food and drinks are great and reasonably priced.
Great service and they have a HUGE game selection organized by things like co-op, strategy, real-time, party, and more. Large tables, great drinks, and our server offered to teach us how to play new games. Would recommend if you like game bars or want to try a new game they have before buying.
Fun place, great drinks, and the staff knows their games! They were able to teach us one on the spot, which was greatly appreciated! Will definitely be going back with more friends.
Great place! Lots of fun. I highly recommend it for your group or family gatherings. The cocktails and appetizer fare is good and the spirit selection is nice. The servers are attentive and engaging.
My coworker found this hidden gem (which is in plain site). I wanted to have a game day for my birthday. I'm so thankful that she found this place. The Staff was super friendly. Also very helpful in finding the games we wanted to play. There we so many games it was like being back home with my family. Great place to go If your looking for new games to try out. The tables were spaced nicely to keep a distance from your own party.Place was clean, oganized and had a very welcome feel.I will be back again.
