Very fun atmosphere, if you can ignore how LOUD it is. The food is excellent and the chef was great to watch, the main issue I had was how smoky it got at the table. My eyes burned the whole time. They could at least have strong smoke eater vents over the grills, ive eaten at other Japanese Steakhouses and never had an issue with how smoky it got.
Our chef was amazing, super funny, our food was cooked very well.
We go to Ichiban a few times a year and we just had probably the best experience we’ve ever had. Duncan was our chef and he was incredible! Everyone goes for the fried rice but it was by far the best we’ve ever had at ichiban. Everything was so good. I’m not sure if you’re allowed to request a chef but do yourself a favor and request Duncan. We certainly will be!
I was so excited about this restaurant. I was deeply disappointed. First I have to say the staff was super nice. The head chef made our food and it was not good. I liked the veggies. Rice was nasty. The meat was over cooked. Tea was good as well as the Ice cream at the end. I won’t be eating there again.
Pretty good dinner and show! Had some trouble with reservation stuff, just know what you want, and how many for certain. Eating with 11 others was cool. A tad different than normal restaurants. Menus for meals are between 35 and 65 bucks plus tip.
Great experience for the whole family. Our chef was fun without being too corny. The food was REALLY good, and the service was awesome. The mixed drinks were not great, but also not super expensive. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience and will be back.
Dined in with my 2 kids and we had a good time. They don't do fire shows anymore due to not being able to install hood fans, but our teppanyaki chef was entertaining and super funny, Rafael. He kept everyone at the table included and had jokes to go throughout the dinner. The ambience was beautiful, Japanese style and the staff all dressed in kimonos, made it unique and exciting to experience. My Asian pear mojito was refreshing and clean, I would've ordered another but watching the alcohol intake. Lol.You can inform the chef if you want less sauce, etc. They're very aware of your orders.Servers were on top despite being short staffed.Greeters at the front were friendly warm and welcoming.Even though we didn't get the fire show we had a great time, I would come back again especially since the ambience was so fun and enjoyable. Rafael was definitely the highlight of the dinner! Great personality for this type of experience!
We do an annual birthday dinner with my sister and I (6 days apart/9 years) with a small group of family and friends every year at Ichiban's. We've been doing this for over 30 years and have seen this place move all up and down Virginia St over the decades. Read reviews on their newest location and I was worried. I didn't need to. We had the best dang time on Thursday night! Our server, Francisco, was soooo skilled and entertaining and a pleasure to interact with. Our food was simply cooked to Perfection and absolutely delicious! A most enjoyable night to remember! Our only disappointment was 1) no more fire bomb, 2) no chicken liver appetizers (which haven't been a thing now for the last two locations), and 3) no tempura fried ice cream! Other than those few omissions it was a wonderful time and thank you for another great birthday memory! 5 stars for sure!
Food was Amazing! Highly recommend and would go back! We tried lobster, steak, shrimp, scallops, calamari! It seriously was the best we’ve had. The flavors were on point!
Awesome!!! Very fun. Sat with good group. Chef was great. A lot of food, and pere tly done.
