Haru specializes in ramen and they do it well. I'm the kind of person who likes variety and trying new things... Haru is the only restaurant where I've ordered the exact same thing 5 times in a row. Why mess with perfection? If you can handle spice, GET THEIR BLACK GARLIC RAMEN. It's incredibly flavorful, filled with aroma oil and creamy tonkotsu broth. Service has always been polite to us. They have a row of fridges filled with fun asian popsicles/mochi icecream, and drinks from brands like Ito En.BEST TAKOYAKI IN TOWN! I REPEAT, BEST TAKOYAKI IN TOWN! It's crispy yet soft yet chewy, with all of the correct condiments.Something else cool: they're one of those places with an open kitchen. You can easily see the cooks grilling your yakitori, and pulling baskets of piping hot noodles from the water. Oh. And it generally gets to your table fast. I don't think I've waited more than 10mins past ordering before a steaming hot bowl of delicious ramen was put in front of me.Their ajitama could be a little better but honestly their tonkotsu broth is so good I don't care. I wish I could save the soup! Whenever I have any broth left over I take it home and try to stretch it out by adding more noodles. They also have a small but tasty assortment of cute cocktails including a seasonal special, and an assortment of Japanese whiskeys, and soju. Give them a try!

I'm a mature Japanese guy, and this review will make sense to other mature Japanese people: This restaurant is great because it has delicious traditional dishes like oyakodon, udon, chicken curry, and tonkatsu. Yes, I know other modern sushi restaurants offer these dishes, but Haru prepares them in a way that oozes home-cooked Japanese comfort food! Haru concentrates on traditional dishes and forsakes fancy (and IMO) over-prepared sushi rolls and other "modern" dishes served in today's all-you-can-eat sushi houses.

The customer service at haru was horrible. The girl who worked the front desk on Thursday April 14th at 6pm was extremely rude and lied to my face about the pick up time for the delivery driver who was delivering my food. She then argued with the driver and wouldn’t let the driver talk when the driver tried to explain that giving accurate pick up times and communicating with the drivers is important. She completely dismissed the driver and still haven’t given the driver the food while she was on the phone with me telling me the driver wasn’t there when in fact she was standing right there and the food wasn’t ready. It’s on the restaurant to accurately get orders out and not to treat the delivery drivers horrible for delivering their food.

ZERO STARS IF I COULD. DO NOT ORDER THE UNADON, IT'S SUCH A RIP OFF. FOR $15 THEY GAVE ME TWO OF THE SMALLEST PART OF THE FISH WHICH WAS THE TAIL AND VERY LITTLE RICE. AMBIANCE IS LAME WITH NO JAPANESE DECORE AND TOOK ALMOST 30MIN TO GET MY ORDER. CAN'T RECOMMEND! AND WILL WARN FAMILY AND FRIENDS ABOUT THIS HORRIBLE PLACE AND SERVICE. WON'T EVER BE BACK.

Reasonable prices, friendly staff, and decent food optionsI always find myself coming back here with coworkers or friendsStaff members are nice and accommodating for large groups

Ordered pickup and had to wait a little bit for the karaage, which I didn't really mind. But when I got home, which is about a 5 minute drive, both of our ramen as well as the pork belly was cold and the karaage was way to under cooked to eat. Their broth for the ramen was great but everything else was subpar.

The wait staff wasn't the most prompt since I was sitting at the bar. However I understand with staffing limitations in service industries. The bar could of been a bit more tidy, but that detail is negligible to me. Everything about my menu was phenomenal. The chicken karaage was cooked perfectly. The seaweed salad was simple yet tasted fresh and wasn't slimy, best I've had to date anywhere. The tsuyunashi was a delightful break from regular Ramen. The star of the show, however, was the Kuro Ramen. My mouth was lost in a multitude of flavors. I could not believe the symphony playing in my mouth.Well worth the wait and money in my opinion. Hands down one of the best places I've eaten in reno. Hats off to the chefs and the prep staff. ?

Yakitori is AMAZING! Like seriously I need you to come to Chicago and teach some people. The Ramen was spot on also, just like I was expecting. The Miso Ramen was spot on for flavor and just was a really good dinner. Staff was super friendly and they have a lot of Japan drinks, got me some black milk tea for the drive home. Desert was kind of the only let down. There is some kind of nugget in the center that is good, just the wrong dish for it. I tried to push down on it to break it up and the ice cream push up the other side. It's good, just really needs a different presentation.

This is by far the best ramen place I’ve ever been to! You get a fairly good portion with great toppings for a great price. I’ve never been able to find another ramen shop that offers all the toppings Haru does. Their broth is also out of this world. If I ever came back to Reno, this would definitely be my first stop to eat at.

Ramen is incredible, big portions sizes with a rich savory broth. They separate the broth for take out which keeps everything from getting soggy. Tonkatsu shoyu with extra egg pictured below.
