Very disappointing dinner. Fried catfish cut into small pieces covered in tasteless gravy. Crab cake with very little crab to be found and burnt on the bottom part. The server saved the day with excellent service. 2 stars...
Great food that seems authentic. Sad to hear that the restaurant near north outlet mall is closing. Trip to Summerlin is worth it for the gumbo or anything on the menu.
We have been to New Orleans and were looking forward to really good food. The waiter suggested the crawpuppies appetizer so we ordered it. There were 4 tiny balls on a plate with a sauce which was good and spicy but was more of a sample size. We noticed people around us had bread so we asked for some and it was the best part of the meal! It was grilled Italian bread with butter and garlic and it was crunchy and delicious. We had a local beer and glass of wine to compliment our meal and they were good choices. Our meals were shrimp and grits and I ordered the bronzed crawfish addition to my meal. I got 3 small shrimp with small pieces of catfish in an extremely spicy sauce with grits. I like spicy food but this was too much spice! You couldn’t taste anything but spice. It was a really small portion as well. My husband had just shrimp and grits and he felt the same way. The catfish was the other best part of the meal as it was melt in your mouth tender. The waiter said that bronzing was not as spicy as blackened so I would not want to try that knowing how spicy our meal was!
We visited here on New Year's Eve with a reservation. When we arrived, the hostess did not seem to know where to seat us. When we finally were seated, we waited for 5+ minutes before anyone came to the table. We ordered Jambalayla and the Gouda Grits and Crawpuppies. The grits came out in a bowl about the size of a cup of soup. I got four crawpuppies each about the size of a quarter. The jambalayla was a fairly normal size. The total bill was almost $60 for very little food. We never received the bread the waitress promised. We never got a refill on our waters. I understand that the restrictions have strained the restaurants, but this was the worst service we received in Las Vegas.
The side dishes are where it's at. You can get decent Jumbo or Jumbalia anywhere, but the sides are outstanding. Some of the food came out luke warm, but they rectified the situation quickly. Good stuff and worth the visit.
Finding really good Louisanna food outside of the state is very hard, but Las Vegas has it. Small restaurant with less than 10 tables and lots of charm. Friendly staff who know what they serve and how to cook. We decided to go with 4 small dishes to share and were glad we did. The garlic bread is light and airy and very tasty. The crawpuppies were creamy inside and crunchy outside with a wonderful sauce to dip them in. I even dipped my break in the sauce! We also had the traditional jambalaya and coleslaw. Both were what I would expect to get in a local Louisanna restaurant. Just typing this is making my mouth water!
The sauces are divine, the special of the day was roasted garlic with garbanzo and steak. We try to go once a week
Moment we walked in, the place felt friendly. Looked like a dive bar with charm. The broiled oysters were not Drago’s, but they weren’t meant to be. Red beans and rice was pretty authentic. Jambalaya was excellent as were the shrimp and grits. Ham po’ boy was demolished by our pickiest eater. Bread pudding Foster was a big hit. Food was basically excellent as was the service. Our waitress, Lisa, was super friendly. Told the Summerlin Lola’s was more upscale and bigger, but this one was more intimate and comfortable. I believe it. Will be back!
I went to brunch at this hidden jewel. Not easy to find but excellent food, service and atmosphere! Great Crab Cakes like New England's best restaurants and Gumbo like Louisiana's best kitchens! Try their Craw Puppies for a great starter for everyone to share. I look forward to returning and trying more of their menu.
I am doing a Happy Dance in my chair, just thinking about my dinner. I went with 3 friends, as I was leaving town. We started with drinks and the garlic bread for the table, my friend ordered the crawpuppies. For dinner, I ordered the char broiled oysters, an oyster po-boy and saved room for that decadent dessert, the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding. Needless to say everything was fabulous, including the service. My friend will go back, but I am now many miles away.
