My first visit to the House of Dutch Pot was fantastic. I've been craving some good authentic oxtail for the past few weeks and immediately thought of Jamaican food. House of Dutch Pot was the closest to me after a quick yelp search. I didn't see oxtail on their website menu, but I kept my fingers crossed that they would have it.They are located at Durango and Flamingo cross streets (between Durango and W. Rochelle Ave. to be exact). The restaurant was super easy to find with plenty of parking space. Inside, the place is well designed with plenty of room to sit and relax.I was delighted to see oxtail stew on the menu. I ordered the oxtail with rice and beans and reggae slaw. I actually highly recommend this pairing because the sweet vinegary slaw complements the oxtail spices perfectly. The oxtail was perfectly cooked. The meat was fall-off-the-bone tender, with a great texture and flavor. Besides the slaw and the rice and beans, the meal came with some fried sweet plantains. The waitress was wonderful--she was friendly and accommodating. I can't wait to return. I recommend this location for a variety of reasons. Excellent location, delicious food, vegan options, child-friendly, spacious, and authentic. You can't go wrong with the House of Dutch Pot.
Kiana was great and provided a wonderful guest experience. The food was delicious and my crab cakes was authentic according to a friend who recently went to Jamaica. My rasta chicken pasta was spicy and yummy! I will be back to try the other menu items.
Tasty food, large portions, customer service was amazing (she went above and beyond, super friendly, constantly checked in, changed out whatever we didn't like, gave a sample of a new dessert to try) and the music and atmosphere was nice. Highly recommend
Man oh man????. Let me tell you absolutely delicious. Found this spot when I went to the restaurant in the same parking structure. The employees were attentive and also engaging when questioned about recommendations. Oxtails taste almost as good as my Mums. ?
This place was very good especially for takeout. Flavor was very good on the half chicken. Loaded mash was so hot and filling. The packing was very nice and the business appreciated customer’s support for the local business.
The food is delicious, I have food delivered from House of Dutch Pot almost everyday. You should try it, it's great food. ?
Love this spot. From appetizers to the main course. Everything is fresh and so good. Customer service is spectacular. I'll definitely be back. Definitely go and support this restaurant. It will not disappoint. Let's talk about the music, I'm telling you. This place s a whole vibe
They have the best oxtails I have ever tasted in my life! I love how the oxtails are seasoned, and they are pure delicious! The only reason I deducted a star is that the portions are small, especially for soul food restaurant standards. At most soul food restaurants, I can't finish the meal in one sitting; I have double back and finish a meal on the second attempt. At House of Dutch Pot, I am one and done! I will devour the oxtails with ease because it's not a lot of food. The plate pictured is large, so I can only imagine the size of a smaller container. The macaroni and cheese are good, but not great. Tastebud wise, the oxtails are tremendous and a five!
I'm from the Caribbean so I had high expectations when I tried this place for lunch. Overall, I loved the rice and peas, but was disappointed by the Jamaican patties - the dough wasn't the traditional yellow color/made with curry powder, and seemed to be made with some other type of flaky pastry dough. The macaroni was pretty good. The plantains weren't very sweet/a little dry. My friend got curry chicken and said the flavor was good but she didn't like that the chicken was still on the bone. My other friend got brown stew chicken which she enjoyed. I do like that this place has an extensive menu and plenty of vegetarian options. It didn't ? remind me of home, but still 4/5, and would try it again. I believe it's definitely a place worth checking out.
We had the jerk chicken, jerk chicken fajitas, Mac & cheese, curry goat, mash potatoes, salmon & festival. EVERYTHING was hot & fresh. Our server Kiana was amazing as well, she was very attentive & even brought us juice samples to try. We’ll definitely be back.
