I am such a fan of Chanko! Everything is exceptional from the sleek atmosphere, friendly service and delicious food. Yes it is a bit more than similar places but it is definitely worth it.I ordered the steamed box and a couple of my friends did the hot pot. Everything was aesthetically pleasing, very well presented. The food is as delicious as it looks. I really enjoyed counting down with the timer and having the box lid opened to reveal a steamed box of deliciousness. There are different types of meats and sauces you can choose from, as it comes with vegetables and mushrooms that are in the box also. I love the fact that it cooks right in front of you, so you can eat it once you open the lid of the wood box. It's fantastic! As for the hot pot, from what I saw with my friends it was a nice selection of meats and vegetables. Since it is not a buffet style AYCE hot pot, the ingredients looked fresh and good quality. My friends really enjoyed it from their reaction. This is another awesome place in Chinatown. There are a lot of restaurants on Spring Mountain and some places stand out more than others. Chanko is one of those places that stand out to me and would definitely make a special trip for
Fun intimate place. Good for small parties. Food was decent. Meant to be chill place to drink and eat but saw more ppl just eat without much drinks. Or maybe it's the tamest Izakaya I've been to so far.
Really enjoyed the shabu shabu here. We liked the garlic pork broth more than the kombu (seaweed) broth which was a bit dull for us. Both sauces were tasty. The restaurant theme is really fun too. They were playing 80s Japanese pop music, and they even have 80s Japanese TV commercials playing in the bathroom. Definitely a memorable experience.Service was friendly but a little slow.
I’ve eaten sukiyaki all over the US and this hands down felt the most authentic. It’s like walking in off the streets of Tokyo
We wanted izakaya but chanko didn't have enough options nor drinks. We enjoyed what little there was. It would have been better if they had an expansive food and drink menu.
This place. Amazing. We stopped talking and just focused on eating because the food was so good.We mixed the garlic pork broth and spicy pork broth, which made it that much better! Also helps that the presentation is super cool. The atmosphere was pretty nice too, the set up of the "tables" was non-conventional which I'm not 100% a fan of, but it wasn't that bad either. The old Japanese commercials playing in the bathroom was definitely a plus!
Worst Japanese food. Nothing is goood here. Please avoid. Sashimi is not fresh at all. Service is great.
I was so impressed by this place!!! Definitely a place where I'd want to take friends and family to show Vegas off the strip. Also a great date night place. Loved the decor - it was very authentic Japanese feel from the bar seating to the bathrooms playing japanese commercials. We ordered the pork seiro mushi and the Tonkatsu. Both were good, but probably not the best we've had. And we were surprised by a drumming show in the middle of our dinner. Definitely a place worth checking out in Vegas, but I don't think it'd become a "regular" for us.
Place was very private (which I really liked) although it took more than 5 minutes for us to get noticed so that we could be seated. The sign to wait to be seated wasn't in its place so we tried to go ask the waitress who seemed to be annoyed we didn't wait.As we sat down and my mom said she didn't like how the waitress was, we looked at the menu and it was good to know they had a lot to choose from. We came by for hot pot, so we looked at that and although they had alot of other things in the menu, there was not much for hot pot.The oysters were great, the takoyaki was okay (not good, not bad), the karaage was good, and the shabu shabu was okay (there was very little meat). My mom loved the garlic broth but I thought it was a little bland. I would recommend other places to eat hot pot, but the other items in the menu might be reason to come back and give them another chance.Overall, an "okay" experience, but not something I would be excited to share about to friends.
Nice atmosphere. Drum performer. More Americanized taste preference than I would prefer, but was tasty none the less. Very helpful and friendly staff.
