feel bad for Rio- we figured since they were host of the poker series tourney the hotel itself would make up for its poor location off strip. Well- this resort is so sad to walk through. It’s ALWAYS dead. There is legit no one around on the casino floor. It must have been amazing at one point bc you can see traces of a cool hotel with a Carnivale theme but now- just dead inside. Nothing is open either. The walk to the strip is brutal. It’s doable but it’s not pleasant and kiss your hairstyle goodbye as you walk over the overpass with cars blowing hot air on you. The resort fees are ridiculous. I’m not even sure what I’m paying for. I didn’t have hand lotion in my room. There isn’t an ice dispenser in the hallways? One perk was the free parking as we rented a car. We didn’t get to the pool. That’s also included in resort fees though. We found this hotel through Expedia and it was the same price as circus circus and the strat. I think for an extra 10.00 per night Excalibur was also there and we would definitely stayed closer to the strip. The rooms aren’t special either. They’re not terrible with basics (minus the addition of the super creepy window into the shower) If there are no other cheap options then go with Rio but if you have the chance, go for something closer and more active.
I have been staying here since it is afforable but the hotel is running down and needs renovation at least the carpet. No coffee maker in the room :(. Room is big and decent clean. Online check in and out are great.
Check in/out is RIDICULOUS at this property and all Ceasars Properties - apparently these large corporations are making so much money now they don't want to HIRE front desk personnel!!! WTF VEGAS????? Used to have so many working check in but now maybe 1-2 persons and kiosk that don't work or u still have to go to desk- LINES HORRIBLY LONG FOR CHECK in any time of day and that's just BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE - CAESARS just does NOT care anymore about their guest only their profits. So rooms were very old- big but furniture has had years of wear and look like there from early 80s-- 3 tiny pillows for King bed called housekeeping told no pillows - Ceasars has issue with not enough pillows- come on buy some pillow with all those profits your making!! Microwave was taken out of room and large whole was left by the tv which for size of room was too small. Small refrigerator. No coffee. Not all pools opened. Lots of closed restaurants, empty stores which is sad. If you want to save money this is a good option no parking fees but honestly Caesars and Rio should NOT be charing illegal resort fees when this hotel provides few amenities- just another way to get your money!
Slow elevator repair caused upset , exit stairs door closed without notice. Imagine the frustrations walking down many floors to have to walk back up. Bathtub clogged on first use. No microwave. Bed and pillows were uncomfortable compare to even motel 6 along the highway.
If your wanting more off the strip then it’s definitely an option the pools are amazing love the adult only pools makes vacation more relaxing. I did self check In and out so that was nice to skip the big line. The staff will direct you in the right direction when you get lost… or if… my biggest con would be the beds it was pretty stiff and the pillows as well not what I was expecting form a typical resort. But if you like more a stiff bed then hey it’s a perfect fit! Over all nothing was over the top amazing or really bad.
We got there at 2:20AM and had to wait to check in for over 2 hours. We did the check in on the app but still had to wait since the kiosks didn't work. The rooms were big, but the carpet was sticky and there is a window in the shower that faces the beds and lights up the bedroom when anyone uses the bathroom. The beds were ok but the pillows were awful. The shower head made a very loud whistling noise everytime you used it.
Don't bother booking in advance and expect to get the room you booked - we booked a King bed Carioca suite and were put in one with 2 queen beds. Management refused to move us or refund us in any way!
Went with my bf and his daughter, it was clean and stocked. We were confused on why there was no microwave but since it was a one night stay we were fine. Nice view also a quick and easy check in/out! Very nice staff! Honestly, I’ve gone to Vegas my whole life and Rio is one of the O.G. Hotels and it still feels modern without it costing you hundreds!
My wife and I are residents of Las Vegas and have stayed at most of the properties in town. After attending evening shows we aften elect to stay overnight so as to not have to drive home late. The rooms were clean but a little noisier compared to some of the other properties we have visited. Although parking is currently free, there are resort fees in additon to the nightly rates. Checking in at 4:00 PM and checking out at 11:00am gives you no time to use the pools or other things you are paying for. Maybe eliminate resort fees for locals so as to attract more local people to the strip.
The property was amazing in its heyday. Sadly the resort is worn out and lacking basic maintenance. Our TV didn't work. The carpet was filthy and frayed. Pool is really derelict. Restaurants were closed. Had a mid day snack at the restaurant bar. Requested a frozen margarita, , they don't have a blender at the bar. Odd. Easy check in and out with express. The staff we interacted with were very nice.
