Wow, the last time I was in Mimi's there was a line out the door to get in. The restaurant was friendly and quaint and "french." Staff was good, the environment was friendly oh, and the food was great. It's probably been about five years since I've been in a Mimi's. So last night we decided to give it a shot. It was bone empty on a Friday evening at 7 p.m.. there was hardly any staff, a lot of the tables in the dining areas are all squished together and not being used. There was really no host. The restaurant was slightly run down, it just looked tired. The menu is pretty much the same from 5 years ago which is not a good thing. I ordered a slow-roasted turkey dinner, French onion soup and a molten lava cake for dessert. The food was okay but it was... shall I say processed? Our waiter was great but there is not an ounce of French in him. But this is supposed to be a French restaurant? Everything seemed out of whack. The tables were old, cafeteria style formica tops. Customers, it was a ghost town, maybe six or eight tables being used in the entire restaurant. After all that it was a $60 meal but it really wasn't worth more than 35. I understand that restaurants are struggling significantly which is why we like to eat out and help local businesses. But in this case I would have to say I can't go back. The old flare Mimi's once was is no more.
We went to Mimi's (Henderson) on Mother's Day for brunch. Our party of six included two children. The server we had was Johnny and even though it was crazy busy he worked hard to ensure our beverages were filled and the boys were served as quickly as possible. He was polite, funny, pleasant and made sure we were all comfortable even though the wait was a bit long for the food (of course expected on a holiday). The food was great and I'll be back again. I was skeptical as this was our first visit to the restaurant but it was a great experience. Thanks staff for your hard work and smiles!
So this is one of the older restaurants in his ares. We had the 3 coarse meal deal and it was worth the price. The very favorable meal starts with a soup or salad well served. The main coarse was next and we had the chicken and pasta with red sauce and finished with the desert of either lava cake with ice cream or a bread pudding. All the meal was very good but the deserts were to die for. And don't forget to ask for some bread with the meal as its always very good. Excellent service made the whole meal delightful.
We got there and noticed a specific table was available. It was our wedding anniversary and we had our first date at "that" table but in San Diego. All of the Mimis are set up the same so it was just like being at our table. When we asked about it I said it's okay if it's not available. They said it needed to be cleaned and asked if we really wanted to sit there. I said only if it's okay, we are willing to wait but only if it's not any trouble. They were really put off. Only giving 4 stars because of our server John. If we didn't end up with him I would have given the restaurant a 3 or even 2 star. He was great. The food was soso. My Husband loved the chicken strips that John recommended. My steak was ordered medium rare. It seemed to have been cooked still frozen or hurried. It was medium well in some places and over well done on the inside portion. They were short staffed and short a cook. He let us know a head of time which was appreciated. You can tell he's been doing his job for a good while. I grew up in a family of servers and bartenders. It's a tough gig when behind the scenes or first impressions go wrong. I tried to be a server and I was terrible! It's a tough job. It would have been a bummer dinner if we ended up with someone else. The dinner is not the important part of an anniversary it's what the day is about. Even though some of the food was wrong and took long but having John be honest about the wait, make suggestions, make the food mix ups right, all with a genuine care and smile, we still got to enjoy our special dinner out.
They were out of coke zero and any berry tea. Waitress was a delight. She was wonderful with my 3 year old granddaughter. They forgot spoon with my soup. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
I really liked their muffins. The rest wasn't so good. The toilets are not clean, it smelled like rotten egg. I had to close my nose! Can also come from someone but they were not cleaned either. The potatoes were not fully cooked. We had tap water which tasted like chlorine which I don't like personally. The waiter was friendly but in total their clothes looked dirty. Their coffee machine was broken so the coffee was in a pot which was also really dirty. For me it's only one star and only for the muffin and the friendly waitress. Now that one hour past since we ate my stomach feels a bit weird so it does from the other one us.
The service at Mimi's is always top-tier whether they are busy or not, I drank the triple berry mimosa which was fantastic, my friend got the flight of mimosas which were also amazing. She also got the homemade cinnamon bun French toast and it was so ooey gooey and delicious , I got the pain perdu Breakfast Platter which never disappoints. Highly recommend for a boojie but casual brunch
Very nice place ! Excellent customer service and great food Thank you!
The food is good.. But tonight I ordered from them and they were out of two of the items. I understand that, since it was close to closing time. However, when we went to pick it up no one told us that they had run out of these items so we came home with only half of the meal.
muy buen servicio y muy rico desayuno
