This is a great place to grab a beer, listen to live music, and kickback after a week of work. The drink prices are absolutely reasonable, friendly staff, and a low-key place where you don't feel like you had to dress up to fit in. The only reason this establishment doesn't get a 5star, it's because of the large amount of homeless traffic and unsettling feeling when you keep getting approached for money, food, or cigarettes when you sit outside. I know this is outside of the business control, but perhaps the businesses on water street district need to request more police patrolling or on foot officers to manage the large traffic of homeless.
Came here on Saturday July 9th with my boyfriend only to be greeted by incredibly rude bar tenders who totally brought down the vibe. First, the female bartender with a pony tail made a big deal out of the fact that we didn’t know what we wanted right away. Then, when we finally did order, 15 minutes later, she came back with the weakest Jack and ginger I have ever had in my life. I asked her if she put alcohol in it and she said, “yeah that’s what makes it brown.” She asked me if I wanted to “open a tab or pay as you go?” Pretty normal. I told her “cash” and held up a $20. She then walked away, saying nothing, served other customers and then came back and told me the price. All the while, I’m sitting there cash in hand. It was $12 for a ginger ale with a splash of Jack and a domestic draft beer. Then, a Spanish speaker came up next to us and tried to order a beer but the male bartender didn’t understand Spanish for beer (una cerveza por favor) and we even translated for him when the bartender didn’t understand. Instead, the bartender told the man he was too drunk and that he wouldn’t serve him. This was absolutely a racist choice as the man was clearly not intoxicated. Also, this bar absolutely over serves its weak, expensive drinks. This became apparent when at about 11:45pm a fight broke out between two (white male) patrons who had obviously been over served and couldn’t even hit each other in the face because they were so intoxicated. This bar, the Gold Mine Tavern is obviously not the spot to be at on a Saturday night. The bartenders are rude, racist, and make bad drinks. It’s a wonder anyone was there at all.
Love this open air bar! It's amazing! Great place to see local talent and get a great taco at the taco bar in front while you listen to the music! That's what I did! It was a great time and it didn't break the bank!
I've been a regular customer for several years and I want to give "Kelsey" a shout-out for the great customer service she provides to all her patrons, always with a great attitude and a smile. She is always asking if we need anything She's a fine young lady and you should be very proud of her. I definitely will be coining back.
Every time we go to Gold Mine Tavern we always have an excellent time ... meet great people.... hear awesome bands ...the staff is outstanding... the atmosphere is just so cool, chill, relaxing and a fun place to be!!!!
Kind of reminds me of when I was 21 and frequented small punk rock bars in Southern California. Good selection of music. Diverse clientele. Cheap drinks.
Great local spot to eat and gamble; awesome atmosphere to have fun with friends
Great atmosphere. Love the out door space the bartenders were great and the patrons were a lot of fun. Definitely would love to see another show there.
Cool local bar, great staff, affordable drinks. We came to see our friends Sin City Devils perform, and we loved the vibe at this place.
Loved this place, excellent vibe, friendly staff, only wished they had more craft beer choices. Check out my visit to this place on my YouTube channel Beers and Frontiers.
