This was my first sushi train restaurant. It was so much fun to watch the food loop around the concert or system. And more importantly the food was great. If you like sushi and haven’t been to a ‘Sushi train’ restaurant, give Yamato a try. Check when the train is in operation, I think it starts at 4:30 pm.
Honestly wish I could leave a better review. Was super excited to come check it out. Showed up round 8:50. Sign says 9:30, Google says 9:30 as I write this it's 9:10. We watched other guests leave. We walk in to the server refusing service saying they closed early. We mention their sign says it's posted otherwise and we already know what we want. She says they closed early. Won't be wasting the gas again. Bummer.
Went with a small group on a recent Saturday for what we thought was an early supper. When we arrived every spot with access to the train was taken and we had to wait about 25 minutes. I agree with other reviews that there are places in town with better sushi and better selection and more creativity, but this is such a fun concept that it needs to be experienced by everyone at least once. I had wanted to try this type of dining experience for years since seeing it in a movie. None of the plates I selected were bad at all and some were very good. Even though the most expensive plate is $5, costs can add up fast; but nothing out of line for sushi in Nebraska.
I've never been to a sushi train before and we got there really early, but it's fun to see things slide by on the track and it's a great way to try a bunch of new sushi dishes without committing to a full roll in another restaurant that you may not like. If you or someone else is hesitant about sushi or wants to branch out and try other types, I'd go to the train. Also, they have amazing cakes.
Super nice and helpful employees. The food was really good! The place was clean and bright and welcoming. We will definitely be back. Absolutely loved it! Pictured is their octopus salad.
Go when it’s busy on a Friday or Saturday night. The food will be a little fresher and there’ll be a lot more variety. I like the novelty of a sushi conveyor belt, but if it’s not very busy the sushi just kinda sits on the belt and the rice gets super dry. Service has been good every time we’ve gone, and our waitress has always been great.3 stars mainly for the food quality on an average day there.
From reading reviews to taking local recommendations to following over from Omaha food lovers. I'd have to say I was highly disappointed with the quality of udon I had received. While the sushi train had some really good bangers on it. It couldn't make up for the sorry excuse of udon I received. The star shall go first! Their sesame chicken was actually really good a solid 8/10 though it was like a mix of sesame and orange chicken it was enjoyable and cooked extremely well. I was really satisfied with the dish.Sadly, the rice was extremely dry and wasn't even seasoned on the sushi leaving a lack of flavor for some of the rolls. The hibachi scallops were oddly placed with a myriad of different garnishes that didn't benefit the dish at all.The broth wasn't seasoned well, the chicken was bland and just boiled obviously it wasn't marinated like it should've been and the fishcakes we're nearly rubberized. The clear soup was actually fairly decent but sadly the 2 stars shall hold
Sushi was delicious and the place was very clean.
We walked in and thought the wait would be prolonged but it was not. Glad we chose this restaurant. The conveyor belt vs off menu selection was great. I had sashimi and it was delicious and very attractively garnished. The two with me enjoyed their meal and the experience. The best part? Our waitress, Ally, who acted as if ours were her only table to work; it was not the place was packed! I would recommend based on the service, food, and atmosphere. I am EXTREMELY picky about my sashimi. I was not disappointed.
Very fun experience. 5 kids some of them 1st time sushi eaters. The color of the plates explain the price
