This used to be one of our favorite restaurants in Omaha. After the last experience we won't be going back. The atmosphere was pleasant. Service was fine. However, when the server has to tell you that he can't get water for the table because they are having wash glasses was the first sign of trouble and wasn't that the place was full, it wasn't even half filled, maybe a third. The real issue was the food. I ordered what I always go to Stokes for the Mayan Fire Pasta. That chicken was so over-cooked it wasn't edible, so I sent it back, which I rarely do. The second serving was just as bad as the first but by that time the rest of the party was about finished with their meal, so I didn't send it back a second time. Three others in my group commented that their Sharon's Chicken Enchiladas was very disappointing as well. Just a very disappointing experience from what used to be a really outstanding restaurant.
Pretty good, although I feel the food was much better some years back. Still worth a visit. The Margaritas are fairly affordable for what you get. The staff is very nice. I got Barbacoa Flautas and I would get those again!
After about an hour and a half, someone who I am guessing was the MOD came to our table of 4 and told us we needed to take out party elsewhere because our table was needed for a reservation. We hadn't even received our check yet! We were a party of 4, not loud or disrespectful, enjoying our food and drinks. I've been coming to Stokes for years and never had an issue. Won't be coming back anytime soon. Unfortunate. Food and service has always been good.
Stokes in a nice place in the Old Market area of Omaha. It’s what I would consider a classy bar and grill. It’s nicely set up, yet it’s still a bar and grill so you can dress up, or go casual. Waiter we had was helpful in suggestions, and giving appropriate time. Once selections were made, food came in pretty reasonable time. Quality was quite good. We both liked what we had, and would be willing to try the same again, yet also be willing to try something different as well. Atmosphere in general was decent. You’ll get some louder volume in there due to the Old Market hang out clientele, but it was all respectful, just peoples friendliness and excitement. I would not hesitate to try this place again, and if you’re on the fence, I would give it a try.
The Manager Realm, the waitress Shay, and the two cooks that were on shift; Corbin and Millie - all were very patient and kind when I accidentally ordered the wrong thing (30 minutes to closing) and all maintained a professional and friendly attitude. They were able to make what it was that I wanted and the chefs never disappoint with the blackoned salmon fish tacos - always a treat. It's great service (and great food) like this that makes a restaurant an enjoyable experience.
Our party of 4 arrived at Stokes at 4:30 for happy hour last night. We were seated immediately and proceeded to enjoy our drinks and food for the next hour and and half. During that time it became busier due to a concert event later that evening. We had finished our drinks and food when a manager came to our table telling us they needed our table for a reservation and that party had been waiting for several minutes for us to leave. She also said “we needed to take our party elsewhere “. There was no notice or communication that there was a time limit due to an event and our server did not mention that there was another party waiting. When this manager shared that our table was needed we hadn’t even received our check to pay. We have frequented this location many times for dinner, happy hour and brunch over the years but have never felt so unwelcome as we did yesterday. There are many options in the old market and I will be “taking my party elsewhere” from now on.
Our dining expirence was decent. The time for food to hit our table was quite long and one of the dishes was incorrect the first time. The food was prepared mostly well. The taste and proportion were good. Our server was great and helped make the experience enjoyable.
Went to Stokes for Sunday brunch after everywhere else we tried to go was packed. The place was about half full when we showed up. The food was decent, but we had to wait over an hour for it to get brought out. We ordered at the same time as two other tables and their food showed up, and they ate it all before ours arrived. The waitress said that our order was up next, but about 10 orders came out before she showed up to see what was going on with our food. Food was fine. Not worth the wait.
Second time at Stokes didn't disappoint. Though we were told up to an hour wait, we got a seat in 25 - no biggie we wanted to wander the Market anyway. The nachos were excellent and my better half enjoyed a Sangria. The Garlic Shrimp Pasta is yummy. I'm pretty sure we ordered the same thing as last time but it was worth it. Nest place. Cool vibe. Friendly staff.
The restaurant was clean quiet; it was quite chilly. However, it was a nice and warm atmosphere inside food, which was fresh, hot, and decent. The waitress was great and accommodating. The menu had a lot to choose from brunch, lunch, dinner, and breakfast all at 1PM..
