Great place to take the kids. We have two younger ones and are just now starting to take them out to restaurants to practice good behavior while dining out and Shirley’s Diner turned out to be a great choice. They have a tiny play area for the kids to keep them busy while waiting for their food or for their parents to be done chit chatting. Even better, I’m not sure they even do this regularly, but the server brought out the kids food first! That was great, because they didn’t have to wait so long to eat I could help them get situated and they eat slower anyway. We will definitely be coming back.

Went in early and it wasn't too busy. Coffee is good, food is good! Ambience is great; it's a very cute place. Will be back!

Great vibe and family friendly. Food was good and the price was also friendly! Had to wait a while for the food to be served. Will be going back.

Very quiet and the staff didn't seem to interested in customers. The chicken fried steak and eggs were quite good and came out hot and fresh. The hashbrowns were more like mashed potatoes though. Large portions and the place looked very clean and nice. Seemed like a good place for a family dinner

Loved the monte cristo and the chicken and waffle. Hot coffee and great service. Would highly recommend

We've now dined here twice, once for breakfast and then for lunch. The service was a little slow this time but the restaurant was pretty full and our server was great! It gave us time to talk before our phenomenal meal!

If you can't seat and serve people in under an hour for weekday lunches, then what's the point in even being open for weekday lunches? Tuesday lunch. 20 minutes to get a table. 5 minutes to order. 25 minutes to get food. That was 50 minutes of my lunch hour. That doesn't leave much time to actually eat or drive. It's absurd for a diner. Also, can we please have an intervention for senior citizens dining in restaurants? Seriously. When you are done eating please SHUT UP AND LEAVE. Let me repeat that. Eat. Pay. Leave. That group of people milling around the entrance is waiting on the table you're occupying while you sit there running your mouth with your leftovers already bagged up and your bill already paid. For the love of God, please shut up and leave. Additionally, instead of the waitperson serving 3 parties at the table over lunch they only get to serve one because your sat there for 90+ minutes running your mouth. You just robbed them of 2 tips because you can't SHUT UP AND LEAVE. Do you know where there's another great place to have a conversation? Your living room. Can we normalize asking customers at busy restaurants to please leave when they are done?

This may start off negative but turns around really quick. We arrived and it was very busy. Once we were seated we did not have a server get drinks orders for over 20 minutes. Finally I got the attention of Lilli! She totally went above and beyond! She made things right almost immediately and she treated us awesome! We love Shirley's Diner and one of the reasons is the service and again Lilli was one of the reasons way! We tipped her very well and made sure she knew we thought she was a complete ROCK STAR! I HOPE SHE GETS TO SEE THIS! SHE DESERVES HIGH RECOGNITION FOR HER FANTASTIC SERVICE!

An absolute gem in the middle of west Omaha. How I felt when I first walked in: definitely a 1950s feel.I love the stringed lights in the middle of the dining area.Prices are reasonable and service was great!I ordered the “Nashville Hot CFS” sandwich. Food came out fast and was delicious. Couldn’t finish it all.

What a cool experience we had at Shirley’s Diner! I normally never do reviews, but this one deserved one. Not only was the food great, but the owner made a big effort to come talk to us and welcome us. You can tell he takes pride in his restaurant as he worked and walked around the place. The servers were all so nice and stopped over to make conversation about my kids. By the time we left, we felt like we belonged and became part of a family there. Such a great experience and it was just lunch!
