I have hesitated to comment on this restaurant because it will not be good. But this keeps popping up for a review so here it goes.I met a friend for dinner at La Mesa with a friend who loves this place. She says her and her family come here a lot. Needless to say I was excited to try this place. We ordered a couple of drinks with our dinner and snacked on chips and salsa while we waited for our meals. The blood orange margarita was good. The chips were stale and cold the salsa was not too bad. I ordered crispy tacos pork and black beans and rice. The shells were stale, the diced pork was dried out, the rice had been on the stove too long. When I took a fork full of rice it came up in sections. Lol The beans were bland. The atmosphere in all honestly was cold. The servers did not seem happy nor glad you were there. There was a group that did walk in and they bent over backwards to make sure they were set up and taken care of. That was nice to see but I didn't see that towards anyone else. It didn't matter all in all but it was just an observation. Don't know if this was an off night or what but they need some cooks/chefs on the kitchen that loves to cook.Needless to say I won't be back.

I ordered steak nachos, pretty simple and easy, however this turned into very unenjoyable experience.1. Food took over 20 min to get to my table. Understandable if things were busy and/or I ordered a large meal, but not during off time about 2:30 on a Saturday and it was an appetizer.2. The food was OK, however all the different topping were in their own separate piles on the chips and there was very little cheese (more on that in a second). Yes giant piles of lettuce, tomatoes, and sour cream. This is not the way nachos should be served and I essentially had to make a giant mess so that I could enjoy all the toppings at once.3. Given that there was so little cheese on the nachos (something I've never encountered before) I ask for a small side of cheese sauce. It was served to me and was the size of a small dipping sauce, ok fine.... but....4. Price. The small little dipping sauce cup cost $3.85. Not only that but somehow my nachos were over $21.00.... I asked about both and my server fixed the cost of the nachos but insisted that she rang up the small side of cheese sauce correctly.Overall not impressed and won't go back there.

Big time racist vibes. My table got mostly ignored and treated pretty badly. No refills, they didn’t take any of our dirty plates. Bad service from most employees I encountered. I don’t say stuff like this often or likely. Most of my table was black but one of us was Mexican and she even said she believes they are racist. Very bad birthday experience.

I never get tired of eating here! I frequently order food for pick up and have never been disappointed but I finally went in to eat a while ago and the food was even better! The molcajete is so amazing that its hard to try anything else, but when I do I have never been disappointed.

Ordered DoorDash tonight, chimichanga and Chile relleno. Everything was delicious and packaged well (sauce separate so chimi was crispy). So yummy! Thanks for a great late night dinner!

They brought us chips and salsa and then forgot about us. Didn't bring any water. Didn't take our order. The table next to us left and told us they had been there 45min without anyone taking their order so they left. I'm not that patient so we left after 20 minutes.

Portions were smaller than I expected which would be fine if the meat wasn't so dry. I had tamales, an enchilada, a cilantro pineapple margarita, and a few other things. The drink was great, the food was fine, but I wouldn't jump at the chance to go back.

Very delicious, our server was very polite & helpful. We had a party of 7 for lunch & he was attentive & made sure we were all taken care of.

Had dinner with a party of 6 on Saturday night Nov 27. The restaurant was busy but not overly so. Even though there were a number of open tables they would not seat us until our entire party was in the building. 2 of the 5 were outside in the parking lot. Not a big deal but! We were seated, ordered drinks and placed our dinner order. The food was very good, the server fair. They were fully staffed so that was not the problelm. I paid the bill, $90.07 plus a tip of $19.93 for a total of $120.00. My problem as I said in the title is petty. Our drink order was 1 Pepsi, 2 Margaritas & 3 waters. During dinner I asked for a Pepsi refill, which the server forgot until dinner was almost finished. At issue for me was the cost of the Pepsi at $3.50 per glass. No refills nothing but a glass half full of ice and Pepsi. Petty yes considering the amount of the bill but if customers are being charged outrageous prices for a soda what else is this restaurant doing to its customers.

Great food! Killer margaritas! Great service!
