Food was amazing. Waiter did a great job recommending and explaining each dish. Had a great time.
Awesome atmosphere and food. The staff were all helpful.
I am very disappointed in the overall food part of our meal tonight at Johnny's Cafe in Omaha. The service was great...but not the food.Complimentary Cottage Cheese Dip- It was like grinded up cottage cheese with seasoning. It was something new to try. Salad with house dressing- There was a stalk left on the lettuce. Other parts of the lettuce were very old. The lettuce had dressing dripping off of it when you took a bite. There was 1/2 an inch of dressing pooled in the bottom of the bowl.Vegetable Beef Soup- This was the best part of the meal! It was made with steak and was delicious!Rolls- The first roll was warm and tasty but the second ones they served were hard and room temp.We had two different steaks. Both of these steaks had ABSOLUTELY no seasoning whatsoever on them. No salt...nothing.We were shocked and very disappointed. $42 for a steak that tasted like nothing. The children's meals are a good deal pricewise and both kids liked the grilled cheese and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese looked like boxed not homemade. The baked potatoes were dry and not tasty. The atmosphere is neat and you feel like you are back in time. It is very quiet in the dining room. We liked that. We were seated immediately. The service was great. We will not eat there again but wanted to try it out for the 100th year anniversary.
Excellent place to eat. Good steaks and appetizers
I'll be honest: this is only the second time I have been to Johnny's. To give you an idea of how long it has been since the first time, Google wasn't even a company. It might have been timing, etc, but we got right in, and we're seated at a nice table. Our waitress was very pleasant and kept on top of our needs despite having a very large party to take care of. I had the ribeye, and my wife had the prime rib. We both opted for salad and mashed potatoes for our sides. The meat was cooked almost perfectly per our requests. The prime rib was not over flavored, like you can find at some places. My steak was good, as a piece of beef should be. Steak sauce is available if you want to flavor. The entire meal (2 teas, entrée, and one desert) was about $80, which we do about once every three months and was worth the experience we received.I do recommend going there and enjoying a nicely prepared dinner in a beautiful setting.(This review was NOT sponsored, and all my opinion)
The food was fantastic as always! Shout out to our server, Stacy. She made the experience that much better. This has been and always will be, our steakhouse of choice!
Loved the decor, the architecture, the atmosphere and history. A bit pricey but large cuts. I had the Omaha Strip Steak. Although cooked to perfection (med rare) it somehow lacked that smokehouse flavor I was seeking. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Perhaps it was the cut I chose? I will definitely return to sample other items. I don't think I can give a fair review on just one visit. This would be a GREAT place to go on a date. I will certainly say that. They didn't have a problem working us in. But I would recommend making a reservation.
Excellent service, food & atmosphere that is unmatchable!!! Johnny's has been a part of Omaha history for a century now. My father told me stories about when he was a young farm hand coming here after they would drop the cattle at the sale barn; about 70 yrs or so ago. This place is not only the BEST prime rib Omaha but also rich in history and top notch staff!!
Nice old school steak house. All of the staff was super friendly. Did not try to rush you out the door like most restaurants do now. All of the food was delicious. We were the last ones in the restaurant due to us making a late dinner reservation and the staff did not rush us at all! Would highly recommend and will definitely return again.
Food was very good, but we had a private company dinner there. Group of about 20. It took over an hour to get dinner orders in. Server was nice but overall experience was super slow.
