We where the only one's there ordering a 4 chicken 2 meal with 2 sides dinner, they took 38 minutes to have it ready and forgot to give us the sides. The worker's were moving slower than a � the food was worst then McDonald's
I get the impression that this place used to be way more popular back at its old location. The food was fine and the employees were nice, but it's really expensive. I'm from Georgia and miss southern food, but $27 for a 2 piece chicken plate with 1 side of collard greens, tea, and sweet potato pie is pretty expensive, especially considering it's counter service, not even a sit down place. $3.50 for a small, sticky cup of sweet tea with no refills is silly. The location is hidden on the second floor of a weird auxiliary food court for a satellite campus of Creighton. There aren't even napkins readily available in the space, and there's sports blasting loudly on the tvs in there. It felt like a gentrified husk of what the old pictures show it used to be. There was hardly anyone in there despite it being peak lunchtime on a Saturday. I really, really wanted to like it. Like I said, I really miss southern food.

Fried Chicken was juicy but soggy like it had been in a the warmer for a while. Mac and cheese was super salty. Collard greens were just ok. Corned bread and sweet potato cheesecake were to die for tho. Also lemonade super sweet.
Had family in town from Las Vegas. We were a large party. They served us quickly and accurately and we enjoyed the best damn chicken any of us had ever eaten! Mind you Las Vegas has numerous famous chefs and Big Mama's still outshined!
I love baked, fried and broasted chicken, but this just wasn't good. My baked chicken was dry and had really rubbery skin on it. The buffalo chicken sandwich was pretty much breaded Tyson Chicken Strips that were chopped up and doused in Frank's red hot. Mac N Cheese was your standard grocery store Mac, and fries were cold and soggy. I'm usually pretty gracious about my reviews, but I just can't, in good conscious, recommend this place.
Considering it’s rich history, I was a bit disappointed. We ordered through a window and ate in a food gathering place. Nice accommodations for eating, just not very warm and inviting. Felt like a mall food court.Food was good, we had some fried chicken, catfish, collard greens, fried okra and the fried chicken sandwich. All were perfectly done but the greens were a bit bland.The reason for going was to get the acclaimed Afro original sandwich but it was not available. Not sure if this is an everyday thing but it was on Saturday, February 5.
I ordered for lunch through GrubHub. I got the fried chicken, fried catfish and mac n cheese. My food was absolutely delicious! The fried chicken reminded me of my mother's chicken. The fish wasn't wet and mushy like other places. I was pleasantly surprised and will order again!
One of the worst places I have ever been. The food took about 45 minutes to get. They were out of fried chicken....how do a place that primarily sells chicken run out of fries chicken? When I got my salad finally I got these cauliflower pieces that I didn't order I ordered the fried corn. I order salad corn and a lemonade and it cost me 26 dollars.....I will NEVER go back here! U should find something else
Fried okra is so good and the turtle Carmel brownie. Fast friendly and fresh food!! Most of it made in the spot!!
