Never bring a big group to Big Fred's, they can not handle this kind of business. We have 25 people, called a day prior to let them know it would be about 20. We were told that they couldn't split checks up and one person had to pay. I talked to a waitress and asked to speak to the manager and our waitress came over and told me that the manager was busy. First of all coming from a customer service background you are never too busy for a customer. He finally came out to talk to me, he started off by saying they are short staffed and they always have big groups pay as one payment. I did explain to him that they had made this harder on us as a group because we were splitting the bill up anyway and also harder on his staff because we were using up her tables just trying to figure the bill ourselves. I understand everyone's short staffed but their is a point we're you have to learn to make changes to adapt to the times. We will never return to Big Fred's.
What an amazing landmark! So what I’ve been told this place has been around a very long time. They do have a large area so if you have a lot in your party they have room. Pizza was amazing! In fact I liked it better than some other older pizza places in the area. The reason I marked it down was the Bloody Mary that I got was terrible ?. No olives & NOT enough tomato stuff lol. I do feel that it could be cleaned up more, for example the fork that was laying in the walkway & many tables were dirty. Would I recommend?? Yes maybe order out notice the pizzas come in a very nice boxes.
An Omaha institution! I haven't found a thing on the menu that I don't like, from the pizzas to the burgers (highly recommended) to the catfish bites to the chicken tenders, I love it all! Even the salads are top-notch, thanks to their excellent Italian dressing. Senior staff can rectify any issue you might have, I can't say enough nice things about this place! Do not leave without trying the onion rings, they're the best I've ever had.
The double crusted pizza is awesome, but the salad was different. Usually it's cold with Big Feds dressing mixed with it, & some anchovies. The salad was not cold and no anchovies. That was very disappointing. Please do not change that salad. I have been going to Big Fred's since I was a little girl. I've raised my kids with Big Fred's, now we go with our Grandkids. Plz fix the salad problem. My family has been going there for 60+ years.
Large spaghetti and meatballs was perfectly al dente with meatballs hot and tasty. Definitely needed one more ladle of marinara!Side salad was fresh, some shredded cheddar or mozzarella would help.Bone in wings are good and Buffalo sauce has a nice zing with kudos on the blue cheese.Chili today was tasty but chef got distracted and salted the pot twice.Friendly staff and my pickup order was accurate 10/10.I like this place and will be back!
This place used to be wonderful. We were in the neighborhood after many years. The server was very rude. The pizza had little cheese and burnt esges. She called Romano a yellow cheese and it is a cream color not the dark yellow served. It was the prepackaged kind and did not melt well. I had a glass of water and asked several times for a refill. I went thirsty. The cheap tostinos pizza was way better. We will not be back.
Don't be fooled by the restaurant name as they have an AMAZING menu full of everything homemade!!!! But the highlights are the Italian dishes!!!! I would eat at Big Fred's every week if I could!!!!! Don't hesitate, wonderful food with a lots of space between tables, AND a big party room in back!!!
Fantastic vibe, lovely staff, below average food.Ordered a $13 pizza which was basically a personal pan in size. The insane cost wouldn't have bothered me if it had been even decent, but it was terrible. I will note, the sausage used was absolutely incredible, but the rest of the pizza? I could have done better with microwave. My kids got hamburgers - luckily they're toddlers because those things were terrible. They didn't seem to notice. My wife had the alfredo pasta and it was very good.
The restaurant was surprisingly busy when we got there and seemed like there's no limit capacity inside. We had a table for six, including two kids and two babies. It took a little while for us to be seated. The server was very attentive. The onion rings and drinks were served first. We had 3 pizzas and pasta. The pizzas and onion rings were good, except for the pasta. The pasta was overcooked and the alfredo sauce was under seasoned. I ordered it with chicken but there was no chicken when it was served. The tables were too close to each other that it's difficult for people to pass through. The store was a little outdated.
If you like cardboard pizza then this is the place. I tried their pizza and it was like cardboard and had a funny taste. I had cheesy bread and that had a weird taste to it. Needly to say, I would buy small portions if you want to still try this place. I am currently here and ordered a hamburger and a salad side. The salad was like they opened a Walmart salad bag with 2 black olives on the side. Seriously, this is like high price for low quality.
