Being from Texas, I have missed my down home flavors.My family and I were driving around looking for food and I saw this place. I didn't know what to expect. But I got fried chicken and fries for myself and my children. My life partner got the catfish. They fried the chicken fresh so it was going to take 20 minutes. I didn't mind. They actually have a sign saying that. Which I can appreciate. When our food came out I was excited to see that it was cooked to perfection. I am werry about eating chicken on the bone because a lot of the time it is under done. And once that happens I will not eat it or anything else from that place. This was the absolute best fried chicken I have ever had! It was perfect. The only thing I left was the bones! My life partner catfish which was also perfection . He liked it so much he order oxtail and the short rib.I can happily say that I will be back. Even now he wants more collard greens!
Thank you to everyone at Mary Ellen’s who helped with our event last evening. Suite A is a great event space. The food was fabulous and the service was excellent. We also appreciated the easy parking so close to the building. Everyone loved the experience. Well done!
A picture is worth a 1000 words. Lincoln has NOOOO clue what it has in Mary Ellen’s! This is such great food, full of flavor and character. We tried it for the first time tonight and holy cow! The catfish is u lick any you will find in Lincoln. The ribs were excellent and the hot link was hot in all the right ways and the collard greens made me want a gallon more. Tell friends, tell family and support the fine folks!
Came here for a date with my husband. Hands down the best food I've ever had. I'm a Mac and cheese fanatic and every restaurant I go to that offers Mac and cheese I order it. Never in all my years have I had a Mac and cheese that legitimately brought a smile from ear to ear to my face! The brisket just melted and the fried catfish while spicy tasted like it was caught fresh that day! The prices were very affordable and Joe was amazing!! If you want great service and the most soul touching food of your life I highly recommend Mary Ellen's!!!
First time visitor from out of town. Was actually headed to Jersey Mike's in the same plaza when my wife noticed the sign for soul food which she knows I love. Knew immediately when we walked in we were in the right place. It smelled delicious! We had a smoked prime rib sandwich and fried chicken with Mac n cheese and collared greens for lunch. Food was great and priced right. We will be back next time we're in Lincon.
Food is incredible. By far the best brisket I’ve had from anywhere within 350 miles. Catfish was amazing. Everything was amazing.
Me & my lady came in there today after going to husker spring game. We both tried the brisket combo with 2 sides. The food was good. Nice portions on everything. Sides had good flavor (sweet potatoes baked beans greens). Will be back again. We give this place a 8.5. Out of 10. Also the gentleman was very nice made you feel welcomed. Thanks for the hospitality from the Kings!!
Smallest portion sizes I have ever seen at a restaurant. I could’ve gone to a gas station and got more food for this amount of money. $14 for a few burnt ribs and about 7 pieces of near-cheeseless macaroni. Tasted even worse than the ones I make at home on my stove. Never got the fried chicken I ordered. Lousy effort, lousy business. If you’re thinking about eating here, I’d recommend buying and eating and bag of bird food instead. You’ll be fuller and it will taste better.
Mary Ellen's has been so good every single time we've eaten there. The ribs are perfectly smoked and oh-so meaty. They are not fall off the bone, which to me means they are top-notch. The chewy, smoke taste is excellent. We've had catfish, brisket, cheeseburger, ribs, mac and cheese, fried potato chips and the collard greens. Everything has been wonderful. The owners and workers are an added benefit as they seem to enjoy life. Great job Mary Ellen's. It's so nice to have you in the neighborhood!
