The food is delicious and the prices are exceptional. My wife and I ordered a meal to share for $13.00 and received 2 breast, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, and 1 biscuit, We did order a second on for $.75. which was well worth it. The service was great and they answered all our question and went out of their way to find the answer for the ones they didn't know. At the end of our meal we ordered more biscuits to go. I would highly recommend them if you are in the area.

Meh.We had such high hopes after seeing it on DDD and we were totally let down. The fried chicken was FANTASTIC and there is no questioning that. The crispy skin, flavor and juiciness were perfect. Would eat this everyday if possible.Everything else we ordered was bland and not exciting at all. The popper bowl lacked a lot. The fried okra (side) was not the best and the grits needed flavoring. The bacon was the best part about those. The sweet heat sauce was super weird and watery, shouldn’t have paid extra. The honey mustard was pure mustard and very overwhelming. Plus they also forgot to add to my dish so we had to track someone down to get it.Probably won’t rely on Guy for recs after this one.

Got the chicken and waffles with the “sweet heat” flavor. Chicken was absolutely phenomenal and I was stuffed by the end of the meal. A bit spicy with a good sweetness and super juicy. Also got a side of the macaroni and cheese and biscuits. The macaroni was good but nothing exceptional. The biscuits were on the blander side but make a great vehicle for sopping up juices.Overall would recommend!

This place is hopping and you do have to wait in order to place your order as well as get it ~ but the food is tasty and there is a reason soo many people are willing to wait for it!

I hate to leave such a low review for such a high potential place. First I have to say the food for the most part is great. The deviled eggs are fantastic and even the bit of crispy bacon piece makes it stand out. When you get a good piece of chicken, it's out of this world and the flavor is great. Other pieces though seem almost under cooked? They stick hard to the bone and feels so much to work around in your mouth just to get a good bite. Lot of cartilage? Then we have the breads. The bread is just a plain jane piece of Mrs. Baird's (I didn't get a sandwich so it may be different on that.) And the biscuits I can't even complain about because they were only 50c anyway. But you can tell they're 50c if you know what I mean. The price was a bit higher than I hoped, especially for such a let down on the mashed potatoes. They were good, but they aren't even top 10 for me. The chicken is good but it shouldn't be hard to make great. That being said it's probably the best place to eat around Bozeman.Lastly the service was just sad. Three college kids and no real management or leadership in sight. I'm in college myself, so don't take me on the wrong foot but when I say there was 7 people in line and no one at the front register for 5+ minutes I mean I started checking my phone to make sure I wasn't just being impatient. (I didn't get my full order so I was waiting just to ask someone.)The reason we all waited so long is one of the employees walked away from the front when another called him to the back and I heard him say, "I'm not taking orders, I'm just waiting on you." Then later another employee asked if "there's anything I need to do before I scidaddle" ... It was 6:30 and they closed at 7. Still about a dozen customers in house. Just seems they lack leadership and quality control. This place could be so much better

I was excited to try this place after reading all the great reviews. I shouldn't have put my hopes up so high. The staff was nice, I'll give them that. Cleanliness was ok at best. The staff did go around cleaning tables but I saw customers washing their hands at the drink station.KID'S MEAL: Caprisun, chicken nuggets and like 8 french fries. Leaves your kiddo wanting more.2 PIECE CHICKEN MEAL:Chicken was cooked well, but unfortunately it lacked in flavor. You could tell seasoning was somewhere in the vicinity while it was being cooked and the chicken caught some of it. The biscuits were white, stuck to the roof of your mouth, and they tasted like tap water. Im not sure how that happens, but they were bland. Undercooked? Anyway. The mac and cheese was ok, though it also lacked in flavor but was rescued by the bacon bits and green onions that are served with it. The mashed potatoes are good if you just like the taste of pepper with a hint of potatoes.Maybe I'll give it another shot one day. But for now, KFC has a better rating based off of this experience.

As a Fly Fishing Guide in Montana I come into contact with a large number of people and the conversation inevitably turns towards food. “Where to eat, what’s good, where to stay away from?” I always considered Roost to be a “Montana must.” Up there on par with Glacier and Yellowstone. Fishing the Madison and the Blackfoot. After Fridays lunch, I can’t/won’t be able to say that anymore. Every single client I have fished has heard me wax poetic over this chicken joint. From me wearing their baseball hat to rocking their stickers on my boat. I guess it’s true that all good things come to an end. We arrived Friday around 1:20 in the afternoon. Walked up to the register, no waiting (which is very unusual). As we were standing their waiting to be acknowledged, I was telling my daughters that “this is what the inside of heaven looks like.” We could see the dark haired female hostess standing half in and half out of the kitchen. After standing at the register unacknowledged for approximately 3 minutes she finally addressed us. My wife ordered for our daughter’s and the staff member was extremely curt, cutting my wife off after the first item was ordered by saying “Is that everything?” She continued to interrupt the ordering throughout the process to the point that she was talking over us and we’d have to repeat items. Neither my wife nor I could figure out why she was rushing us, as their was still no one else in line. But you could tell she was very annoyed. After ordering, we sat at two tables next to each other since there are no 4 seat tables inside and the tables just side had snow on them. The young man delivered part of our meals and stated we would have to wait for the 4 “orders of fries.” Ok, no big deal. Shortly after this, another couple sits down and they also receive portions of their meal along with the same explanation. Fast forward to the point that my family has just about completely finished their meals and the same waiter brings the other table (seated 10 minutes after us) a tray of fries and then brings us a single serving on a tray. I tell the waiter that we had 4 orders and he looks at me and says, “we’re out again.” Then without even leaving our table he adds that “Oh, all 4 orders are on that tray.” Look, I get that stuff happens. Just own the error and move on. Don’t change your story at the table and try to say that a single serving of fries was supposed to be shared with a party of 4 seated at two different tables. Just admit you gave our food to the other table. The biscuits were raw. The fries, non-existent except for the single order. Cmon Roost. You can do better…

Looking for a local favorite….we found it! Line was a bit long but well worth it! Comfort food at its best! Delicious and moderately priced. In door and out door seating!

Another place I wish I had a 4.5 star rating for. Great chicken, good prices, and a quaint little place to eat at. We've been back multiple times.I get some of the bad reviews saying this isn't anything special compared to other places in the world - but you're in Bozeman, MT, not the fried chicken capital of the world. Cut them some slack and enjoy the food :)

My favorite chicken sandwich. The Nashville hot is just perfect, hot, but not so hot that it over powers. The come back sauce is amazing on the fries.
