Right on Main Street this is a high energy restaurant in a beautiful old building. The focus is on pasta and pizza but in an upscale setting.
Dinner was amazing, the wait staff was equally amazing. They really let us take our time with dinner so we could enjoy the wine and the food. We did lots of small plates and shared - it was delicious!
They have a seasonal menu that is constantly changing. We go for the salads, wood fired vegetable dishes, and wine. The food is always spot on, balanced, flavorful, and exciting. Don’t waste your time anywhere else.
LOVE BLACKBIRD!!! Excellent menu, ambiance, wait staff and dining environment for any foodie. We had dinner there two nights in a row since it was such a great experience. The menu was varied and offered a wonderful sampling of appetizers, pasta, pizza and beverages. We had pasta the first night. I had the pappardelle with lamb and it was so good. I scooped up the sauce which had a bit if heat with the bread that can be ordered as an appetizer. The wine list was good to accompany the variety of foods. The second night we ordered the meatballs and a pizza to take home. Awesome meatballs!! The pizza was fantastic as well and gone in no time. Yummy. One note - there was a sweet young girl helping out with the servers (about 7 years old). It was nice to see everyone treat her so kindly, customers and staff alike. Such a nice place to dine and enjoy a fantastic meal in Boseman.
Blackbird was pretty good. The lasagna was worth five stars on its own, but the pizza and the radiatore had some room for improvement. Not bad, just fine. We were also a little surprised to see that the menu was mostly pizza, so make sure to check the menu for yourself. I don't mind that the other options are limited. A focused menu usually means that every dish has been perfected, though we found some of them to be just shy of that mark.
We were here skiing in Big Sky and looking up the good restaurants in town, this place showed up as top rated. However, it has been fully booked throughout the week after, so I called them and was suggested to try walk up, as they do leave seats for that. We arrived at 8:30pm to avoid the prime time, only to find it still fully packed. The host told me the wait gonna be 40min, apparently they do extend hours when there’re guests arriving late, very accommodating. We decided it’ll be too late and changed to order to go. The host was very nice, after shuffling things around and looking through last-min cancellation, he was able to seat us, we were very happy and appreciative. We ordered the duck liver pate, chicken leg confit, and a spacey pepperoni pizza. While waiting for the food, the aroma in the restaurant almost made me drooling- it’s a mix of roasted vegi and meat, together with fresh baked wheat, and super refreshing herbs, it makes me forget we are in snowy Montana during a 30F winter night. Not for long our tape came, the bread simply blowed my mind - puffy yet chewy, full of wheat flavor and with a perfect crust, the duck liver is moist yet not oily, it is mixed with refreshing herbs, by its side, there’s pickled red onion and mustard seed, it’s appetizer at perfection! Later it came the chicken and pizza- as expected, both are so delicious that we ate all the food knowing that we gonna stay up late tonight because of overeating… The chicken leg is crispy on the outside and juicy and tender inside. The pizza is something else, it is a bit burnt on the crust, yet that aroma it brings out from wheat reminds me what good food is meant to be. We’ll definitely be back again, can’t wait to try other dishes on the menu.
Isabelle was an incredible server, she got us our food promptly, created a lovely atmosphere, and made sure we had everything we needed. thank you for the best service experience!now as for the food, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. it seems to rotate depending on the season maybe? (i’ve only been here a few times) the orange wine is absolutely delicious.lastly atmosphere, there is a really interesting layout, beautiful tall windows, and unique light fixtures.
Fun spot. Very popular. We had kale salad, pizza and cabbage salad. We were seated kitchenside without a reservation. Was fun to watch the chefs but I think I would have preferred a table. Great food.
We went on a Tuesday and place was packed. We sat at buffet overlooking the kitchen which is a cool feature. Staff was very nice, food was great and we were wondering why it has been so long since had bee there. Great menu, great food.
Fabulous dinner last night. Our snowy night in Bozeman before heading to Yellowstone. Started with small pickled veggies appetizer. Then onto a kale salad that was crazy good, and considering we are not huge kale fans, noteworthy. I took pic of ingredients to try and recreate. Lastly, a fab pepperoni pizza with just the right amount of heat. Service spot on. Only wish was to start with martini but no hard liquor. We shared all and were stuffed.
