Went for Easter brunch. Took 15 minutes to get two lattes, service was very slow, despite it seeming very calm around the restaurant. Ordered the mcfieldhouse Sammy, dry bread, not a ton of flavor. The Brussels sprouts were just ok. Also shared the French toast, which was good but said it came with a berry “compote,” which was 3 strawberry halves. Wasn’t terrible, but won’t be back.
We have eaten at The Fieldhouse a few times when traveling into Billings to visit family. It is a culinary favorite and the food is always outta-this-world fabulous. We ate here twice this visit and our server, Darby, was the reason we came back today! She’s a keeper and the whole staff is awesome. Thank you! Food well done.
Overall, we enjoyed our meal and will likely come back.I ordered the steak with carrots and fingerling potatoes, my husband ordered the burger. We would definitely recommend the house lemonade. My steak was good, but nothing I'd rave about in terms of flavor. Those fingerling potatoes were absolutely delicious! I would go back just for those. My husband really enjoyed his burger, but thought the fries were on the salty side.I thought the brussels I ordered were an appetizer, but they arrived with our meals. They were also good and the sauce they came with was very yummy. The food was very satisfying in flavor and portion. It was just enough that I didn't feel bloated and sick nor did we leave hungry.Service was good, if a bit slow in the sense of not seeing much of our server and waiting for the check. But our glasses were never empty.
I don't recommend the ramen (the pork was fatty, the stock was salty, and the eggs were served cold), but the brussel sprouts were awesome and my partner enjoyed his chicken sandwich enough. The space is cool and we liked the focus on a locally and seasonally sourced menu. Service was okay (we got a little attitude). Prices were fine. It's nice to see Billings offering more places like this.
So my wife and I were traveling from out of state and our first time in Billings. We wanted something authentic Montana with a rustic charm, but we knew nothing about the restaurants in Billings. I looked online and saw The Fieldhouse and that it’s an American Cafe and that it’s inside a historical building. So I thought ok sounds nice! However when we walked in and were seated, they put us in this booth separate from the rest of the restaurant which felt a little odd. Then we took a look at the menu and were immediately shocked and confused. We thought this was a typical American Cafe, but the food on the very sparse one page only menu was strange and nothing sounded good to us. It felt much more like a very modern hipster joint in L.A. It was very out of place for Montana. So my wife and I just looked at each other in utter shock and disappointment, and then we decided to bolt out of there. It was so embarrassing getting up and leaving and the first time we ever did that. Also we were sitting there for about 10 minutes and nobody ever came to wait on us like we were invisible.
OMG!!!! what a hidden treasure! My family and I had breakfast there yesterday and everything was perfect the food was amazing and the dinning room is stunning!! Will definitely will be back.
GREAT place! Loved all what we ordered. Clean, friendly place. Food is super fresh and tastes great.
Fun, hip environment. Our server was fun and friendly. The McFieldhouse was legit awesome. The brussel sprouts were also great.
Started outside but got too chilly at 9:15am. Indoors enjoyed strong, hot coffee, Brussels with a sauce on the side, fruit plate, loads of crispy bacon and French toast. All delicious.
Whether you're going in for brunch or dinner, you'll be pleased with the atmosphere, the interior design, friendly staff and amazing food. The menu is unlike most fine dinning in which you'll probably end up choosing something completely new to you, but I can assure you, you will be very pleased with your dish. 100% would recommend anyone to try them out.
