Yellowbelly is a cool trendy restaurant that offers unique entrees and cocktails. Been here a few times when I stay at the double tree on forest park. It’s a quick walk. Closed on Monday’s ! I typically start a frozen pina colada and the pork belly tostada. The menu changes often. I had the seabass last time. It was delicious. This time I tried the prime hanger steak w Korean bbq butter and charred salsa. The steak was cooked perfectly but I disliked the salsa and butter. I’d recommend trying the apps and all seafood dishes. The burger is legit too. But don’t get the burger. Definitely get a frozen drink ! The staff is super friendly. Bartenders servers and bar backs all smile and like being there. The dinning room is small so you might want a reservation and please wear a Hawaiian shirt when dining in ! You’ll see ! Great spot for date night!
Visited Yellowbelly for the first time this past weekend and we absolutely loved it. As a big Richard Blais fan - and knowing he was a part of the initial creation - we had to try this spot. The structure of the menu is great to be able to try a variety of things. Snacks are a few bites, small plates are slightly larger and shareable and large plates are full blown entrees (which can definitely be shared). Asian fusion is their theme - from cocktails to food to desserts - and they do not disappoint. The cocktails we tried were fantastic. Delicious & well balanced drinks that pair with their menu options famously. We opted for the Lazy Tiger & Hot Boy Summer - neither disappointed. We started our meal with the Cheddar Biscuits - perfectly crispy & flavorful - & Crab Fritters, which came with a refreshing passion fruit honey mustard. Next up, we enjoyed the Brussel Sprouts - which I loved the Cauliflower Kimchi that complimented the sprouts. For our small plate options - we started with the Street Corn which also had a delicious black bean puree & oaxacan green mole, which I could have used a bowl of. Next, we had Chili-Glazed Berkshire Pork Belly which another type of house-made kimchi, mushrooms, jasmine rice & spicy mayo. The pork belly slices were substantial and I loved how the flavors paired so well together. Lastly, we enjoyed Faroe Island Salmon Tostada, which was raw salmon, avocado, sesame, seaweed, cabbage, soy & sudachi vin. The avocado & salmon portions were substantial and perfect for sharing as it was packed tall with flavors. We shared everything we ordered and would definitely return again. The staff was incredibly knowledgeable, timely with service & knew when to offer up great suggestions when we needed them. Look forward to the next visit!
Thoroughly enjoyed both the ambiance & available dinner options. Plenty of seating indoor as well as outside. The Spam fried rice was a pleasant surprise. Nashville fried oysters are a MUST try. Brussels sprouts were decent and biscuits were definitely delicate, delicious & perfect for sharing. Didn't have enough room for cocktails on this first visit because cuisine was the priority. I'll be back for certain.
I had a good time at yellowbelly. I looked up the restaurant before I went so I knew what to expect with pricing. We got a salmon toastada, vanilla panna cotta w/ passion fruit, cheeseburger w/ miso onions pork belly and beer fat fries, watermelon salad, and drinks. I got a non-alcoholic snap pea cocktail, and he got a bottomless mimosa + a few other drinks.Overall, the service was friendly and the food was good. My favorite items were the oysters and the panna cotta. I did not like the passion fruit sauce on the panna cotta it unbearable but the dessert underneath was delicious. The watermelon salad was a no for me. I tasted more vinegar than anything else and would not recommend. The burger very good but slightly over cooked and the fries were a little too salty. For 3 oysters priced separately, 3 drinks, a burger, a dessert, and a salad it $106.00. This was a random treat yourself moment. I would go back at least once to try another dish but wouldn’t make a habit. It was good. 7/10 would recommend for a fun day out in saint louis.
Nice venue. I went for happy hour.Had the Cold Shoulder cocktail - clean and lovely warm weather drink, chartreuse and lime forward. Also had the Mini Poke bowl, interesting, slightly spicy and full of flavor. Finally had the Cuban black bean nachos which were also flavorful and a great dish to share.Definitely will be back. The food was really fun and creative twists on classic dishes. ?Friendly fast service.
A huge disappointment to say the very least. The Mexican Grouper doesn’t taste good. The fish itself tastes bland and is very small for $45. The sauce and toppings are weird. Putting sriracha and coconut milk together? Plus barley and nuts? Seriously? You don’t need Gordon Ramsay to tell you this tastes disgusting. The presentation is not good for a $45 dish as well. In short, I feel like I spent $45 for a weird tasting poke bowl. Other dishes are not as bad but not great either. Though the cocktail is okay. My friend recommended this place to me so I had high expectations. The fact that it’s vastly overpriced and below average food really disappointed me.
Very inviting place with super service, endless cocktails list and nice menu.
So! I absolutely LOVED my experience today! The food? Amazing! Well seasoned, cooked to perfection and not a long wait time. The service? Outstanding! The person that waited on my sister and I was so professional but still very welcoming and positive. The atmosphere? Cool, but in a way that makes you feel cool just by being there. Relaxed, comfortable, but still an aesthetically pleasing experience. The dining room is open and airy, but not overwhelming. Big potted plants everywhere and the actual seating is like something from your home decor dreams! This was my first visit but definitely not my last!
Great food and excellent service.
Incredible food and drinks! We took advantage of the fantastic happy hour special, and also the standard menu. Most assuredly, the best pina colada I've ever had in my life.Shout out to our server Almedin, who was also great.Five stars, will definitely be back for more.
