Been thinking for a while on this review as I wanted to give a fair assessment. Our experience might come down to going on a bad night. We were attending a concert at Powell Hall at 7PM, which was about a 6-7 minute walk. We arrived around 5:15 PM, was told it would be a 15 minute wait. Seated around 5:40 I think. We were seated outside. I noticed all of the nice dress people were seated inside, while the casual crowd (like us) were outside. Odd observance, I'm assuming it was anecdotal. The server was great and attentive. We quickly ordered our food as we had already been looking at the menu. However it took at least 45 minutes, if not closer to an hour to get our food. Pretty sure we saw others that ordered after us receive food before us. As soon as our food arrived I had to ask to pay to ensure we could make it to our concert.Quick summary of timeline - we arrived around 5:15, sat around 5:30 or 5:40, got food around 6:40, ate within 10 minutes, left.As for the food I can say the complimentary bread/rolls were great dipped in the olive oil/balsamic vinaigrette dipping oil. The toasted raviolis were hot and crispy with a delicious beef filling that really came through strong. The pizza, from what I can remember since we had to eat it so quickly, was tasty. We ordered the Il Vacaro, which was a deep crust affair, with a fresh tomato sauce, sausage, spinach, and ricotta. I don't know if it's normal, but most of the cheese was on the center piece (it was cut into squares, not triangles) which meant most pieces didn't have much cheese. The top of the crust was nicely cooked, though I prefer a bit more char on the bottom of the crust if I'm ordering a quality pie like this.Overall I'd like to think we were satisfied, but that is also giving some extreme leniency due to us going at a really busy time with multiple concerts in the area, and people wanting to eat before the their show.Considering we don't live in STL, it's a shame that this was our experience here as we may never have the chance to try it again.

Pizza was very good and the bread they serve you before the meal was great. The service needs work though. Our server was very friendly but we had to get up from our table twice and ask for our ticket. Would recommend but be prepared to wait.

Enjoyed the evening and had great company.

So disappointed. Had reservations, arrived on time, seated. Then, nothing. Our dinner reservations were at 6:15 and we honestly had to rush at end to get to our 8:00 show at the Fox. The server came over to our table after about 15 minutes. She told us they were understaffed and that she had told the hostess to stop seating people. She took our drink order. After about 10 more minutes we saw our drinks sitting on the bar. She brought them to us after about another 10 minutes. When we ordered our food, I asked her to try to make sure it came out hot. The last 2 times we have been to Vitos our food came out cold. And, we were not the only ones. A table of 4 near us was complaining. Of course our food came out cold again. The side salad was served after the entree. We had to flag her down to get our check. I truly do not blame our server, I blame management. Sadly, we are now giving Vitos up as our pre-show venue. Management, hopefully you will see this and make some changes.

I got a simple 10 inch cheese pizza with black olives and their fettuccini Alfredo, no meat. Also got a Caesar salad and it was delish, everything was so good!! Service was great and I got all that food for $30! Definitely recommend this place ☺️

Ok, quick negative, we had heard about this place and when we arrived in St. Louis on a Sunday and it was closed. No sign, no anything, but there was nobody there. Did the same thing on Monday. Monday night, made a reservation for Tuesday, so hoped they would be open and they were! We talked to our server and said they have had staffing issues. When we actually at there, we really enjoyed our experience. Family had pizzas, I had lasagna and daughter had fettuccini alfredo. All were great. Our server was great. She was obviously busy but we don't normally like alot of stop ins by servers. She was very nice and apologetic. Great. A bit expensive (just over $100 for four of us) but was a great dinner!

Great food at a good price. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff.

Excellent service; really good food - between a standard pizzeria and a fancy Italian place. Great for those wanting a better meal but not spending a lot. The amount of food varies. One of us had a personal pizza (with ingredients such as artichokes, portobello mushrooms, sauteed spinach, and feta). Others had pasta or fish. The pizza was huge. The pasta was pretty big as well. The fish dish needed a dessert to round it out. There's a bar on one side; restaurant on the other. Service was fast, and pleasant.

My wife and I use to eat at several amazing italian restaurants/pizzerias when we lived north of Philly. Now we live about 30 miles west of St. Louis and honestly, we have a hard time finding Italian restaurants we really like (sorry.. if they serve provel cheese with your pasta, pizza, or other dishes its not italian). However, Vito's quality of food really allowed us to share in the experience of some of our favorite foods with the kids. They were amazed with the different appetizers, style of pizza, and some of the other dishes we got. Maybe we havent tried the right ones in the Italian district yet, but Vito's has been our favorite.Aside from the food, our service was beyond exceptional. Once we got there and seen how busy it was, we realized that we probably didn't give ourselves enough time between our reservation and the time that we needed to be at the Fox Theater for a play. The waitress immediately realized and asked if we were going to see the play, and from there she put everything into overdrive and managed to still allow us to experience the great food without having to rush. Thank you Claire! My family really appreciated your generosity and kindness!
