The beef in the vine kabob was juicy. The chicken shawarma was on the drier side. However, the tzatziki sauce redeemed the shawarma. The lentil soup was also salty. The restaurant is dine-in, but everything comes in takeout containers. They look understaffed, but the waitress was helpful.
This was quiet possibly the worst Mediterranean food I’ve ever had. Chicken was not cooked throughly and was extremely dry and not flavorful. The sauces were really basic, the pita was dry, the servings were small and everything was extremely overpriced. Pretty much nothing was good. The highlight for me and my girlfriends meal was the smoothie and even that wasn’t that good. Honestly I would much rather be refund for that meal it was horrible and I will most definitely not be going back. This was actually recommended to me by a few coworkers but I believe they have not experienced quality Mediterranean food. Just because folks used to something it doesn’t make it good. Would not recommend, please stay away.
I really hate to say it, but the vine has definitely fallen off over the last few years, used to be one of my favorite spots and deserving of a 5 star, but every visit it gets a little worse. Unfriendly staff, which was always kind of their thing, who’re very inattentive, to the point where they don’t even offer table service. And the food itself has really taken a nose I’ve, their pita used to be the absolute best, this time around it was like leather bread.
While you do receive your food in a to-go container, that just makes leftovers easier! One of my favorite places to eat on S Grand, and the juice is great too. In the summer the inside can be quite hot, but the patio is always nice and breezy.
Falafel and fries were very good, chicken shawarma a bit dry but tasty but the winner is their pistachio baklava! Will come back and try other items but mainly to order a tray of the baklava. Customer service was great as well. Reasonable price, too.Food: 5/5
Dine in or take out it’s always delicious and fresh. Shawarma is amazing.
I almost always try to visit a middle eastern restaurant when I visit St. Louis given the lack of such places where I live and I have visited many over the years in St. Louis, Chicago, and other cities. This place is below mediocre to say the least. This is why:- The food taste is less than average at best.- The food is served in to go containers, not plates, or utensils other than plastics.- It is a self-serve location, and the workers seemed rushed and busy.- Prices were comparable to other restaurants which served better quality food and far better service.
Great counter-served Mediterranean food including falafel and kibbeh (get 6 for $8) that are fantastic. Lunch specials from 11-3 daily includes any of their salad/soups (get tabouli) is a lot of food for ~$12. Two hungry people can share one entree and an appetizer...it's plenty of food for $20.Sidewalk seating or take to go to Tower Grove Park; inside isn't great atmosphere. Service is pretty fast, even when they're busy.
The food is good but The Vine is not what it used to be. There is dine in, but no table service. You order at a counter and eat out of to-go boxes. The bread and hummus is not even good. The pita bread is served cold in a plastic bag. We went for dinner and only sandwiches were available. Good place for lunch or take out only.
High quality food for comparably low prices. Relaxed environment. It tasted delicious and comforting. I got a smoothie, falafel dish, and yogurt salad and pita breads for $15 and I’n stuffed. I thought I was going to under-order for my appetite but it was very sufficient.
