I really hate to write an unfavorable review of Rich's, because my wife and I like their ice cream better than the iconic Ted Drewes'. (I know it's a sacrilege to write this in St. Louis, but Ted Drewes' custard leaves a bitter after taste in my mouth.) Rich's custard is really good, but their service ... not so much lately. Don't get me wrong. The young people who work there are sharp-looking and unfailingly polite, BUT... the last two times we went there, the person who made up my sundae failed to put the sauce on it! The first time, it was a hot fudge sundae. I noticed the omission of the hot fudge early and took it back to the window. The crew corrected the problem immediately with no hassle. Then over the Fourth of July weekend, we went again. I ordered a cherry sundae, and guess what? No cherry sauce! This time, I was pretty disgusted and just ate the ice cream without the sauce. I really like Rich's ice cream, but before you leave the window, make sure that they put the sauce on your ice cream sundae.
We had to wait 45 minutes in the drive through, only to have the employee tell me they were closing due to employee shortage. They had at least 4 in the store at the time. It would have been nice if they at least came out to let people know earlier so we didn’t have to wait that long.
Some of the best water I've ever drank. It was divine. oh and they also have decent ice cream.
This is one of my family's favorite places to go to treat ourselves year round. The custard is always so creamy! I love that they offer vanilla and chocolate custard and are willing to make any combination you want. The staff may be young, but they are always courteous and polite.
Their rocky road concrete with added Heath will rock your world.
They handed me the most melted ice cream I've ever been served. Literally running down my hand before I could get to my car. It wasn't even a hot day. I won't be back.
Very good custard. Good service. All I ordered was a dipped cone. However, my daughter ordered a cup of custard with various toppings and said it was delish! Will go back again! They have iced coffee too! ?
