Good food and yummy drinks!
We had such a great first visit to Nixta yesterday evening. After an evening stroll around the Botanical Gardens, we decided to give Nixta a try. The vibe is colorful, cozy, and romantic - and reminded us of our honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas. We were warmly greeted and though we didn't have reservations, we were lucky to grab seats at the bar. Our server/bartender Zachary was great. The food is next-level Mexican cuisine. We enjoyed the Smoked pork enchiladas, Cochinita pibil, and Yucca fries; all were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We look forward to a return visit!
Our experience here was good, the atmosphere was nice and service was friendly and they were really knowledgeable. We tried a few of the appetizers but really only liked the guacamole. The Al pastor tacos were delicious, and the crispy octopus was pretty good. Overall it was really good but I wasn't blown away.
Great service & food. Our waitress Jen was the best! Will be back soon .
Such a good, authentic little spot to grab some legit homemade Mexican inspired cuisine. Not just salt and sugar, but excellent flavors derived from fruits and vegetables, and sauces that add depth to dishes, rather than overwhelming your taste buds with simply salt and sugar. Their drinks are tasty and unique and not try-hards. Good atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, generally speaking, and a chef who you can see interacting with guests and making sure everything is top notch..and it is. Good spot to take a date.
For the clientele they want to attract with their prices and decoration, the music is far too loud. Also, for the price I spent on food and no alcohol, this is what I got:Salsa and chips (gratis) saltier than eating the salt off of most other chip brands. Spicy but somewhat watered down.Pork enchiladas - two rolls of seemingly stale tortillas, about the size of frozen taquitos you would get from the grocers. However I've had much better tasting taquitos, and they had more substance to them on the inside. Drowning in sauces that seemed out of place.Street corn - (I was warned it would be served cold). Once again drowning in sauce. Due to it not being on the cob the kernels had time to absorb the extra sauce and become like canned corn instead of crisp on-the-cob as you would expect. Them being cold made the experience worse. The restaurant looks clean and the design is different in a good way....a good reuse of an existing building. The staff are courteous and quick to get your drinks and meal. It's just such a bummer that there's not much else to look forward to.
What a quaint, fun little spot. The food was slightly underwhelming for the price, but the service was very attentive and friendly. It is definitely a place to check out once.
Nothing here disappoints. Always a go-to. Don’t skip dessert, especially the horchata ice cream and the churros. ?
We went last night and had a wonderful evening! Our server Avery was fantastic, as was the rest of the staff. We were taken care of very well, the food was unique without being too bizarre, the portions were just right and we tasted a lot of dishes. Can't wait to go back when it's warm and sit outside!
This is the second time I've come here, and while it is good, it is largely overpriced and overhyped. I love Mexican restaurants, and this one being a fancy one, I'd expect more out of it. The guacamole is incredibly bland. There's no spice at all. The octopus was tasty, but could have also used more flavor. Everything we had was just so so. It all seemed to lack flavor and spice. The food is not bad and the service is fine, but the food honestly comes out too fast and I don't get to just enjoy my cocktails. I have never been in and out of an expensive restaurant so fast in my life. If I'm going to spend almost $100 per person on dinner, I'd like to be able to stretch it out for a couple hours.Overall, I just don't understand why this place gets such favorable reviews. It's very overrated.
