Literally addicted to this place and I live almost an hour away. I was so inspired, I've created an expensive grocery list to try and recreate this magical experience at home because I can't afford to drive here everyday.?They used to have the most amazing fried chicken skins with a side of pepper jelly. Omggg, mind-blowingly good. But sadly they don't make them anymore. ?We tried them Sunday for brunch for the first time and the hype for the Rick McMuffin is legittttt.I also ordered the buttermilk biscuit with fried chicken, and ???. The fresh dill and parsley with the warm house made buttermilk biscuit, cheese, egg, and creamy ranch was pure heaven. This is my new favorite spot for sure.
My wife and I just discovered this place after living here three and a half years. We are from Mobile Alabama and, of course, appreciate good southern food. I'll just say it was fabulous and it is such a shame I didn't discover this place sooner. Thank goodness for my wife discovering the write-up in the St Louis magazine. I had the chicken parmesan sandwich special and my wife had quarter bird with collard greens and French fries. Everything that we ate was seasoned perfectly and had a wonderful taste. Chicken was nice and juicy and just the right amount of spice. We were able to meet the owner and he was kind enough to take a picture with us. We have found us a wonderful new place and we will definitely be back.
The most greasy chicken I've ever had it was literally dripping Grease saturated through and through the meat.
My Grandmother always told me, simple and perfect cannot be improved upon. Chicken and dumplings were a staple dinner choice in our household. It takes little more than a good chicken cooked for a few hours until tender and the flavors melded together. Celery, carrots, onions salt and pepper, plus those secret herbs and spices Granny added formed the basis of a great pot of chicken and dumplins. Which, was nothing more than a great chicken soup with hand rolled dumplins thrown in. Those took only a few ingredients. Flour, baking soda, salt pepper, milk butter, parsley and a large egg. These days of cooking as fast as you can brings us dumplings that incorporate biscuit dough, flattened white bread and other concoctions. None of these will render the final dish that everyone’s granny wowed everyone with at Sunday dinner. Grace Meat +Three has tried to elevate the lowly dish of chicken and dumplings to super star status. Well, this ain’t it! First, a good pot of C&D requires a broth, not to thin, not too thick, but with a viscosity somewhere just below a good gravy. Care is needed to not have the broth too thin as it’s then soup. Also, not too thick because when you add (good) dumplings, the flour will not cause your broth to be thick and lumpy. Plain old flour dumplings, at a thickness not much more than 3/16 thick for light thin dumplings to1/4 thick for chewy thick dumplings work best. Making up fancy gnocchi style dumplings with soft runny centers does nothing for the esthetics nor mouth feel of a dumpling. As a matter of fact, I found these fancy gnocchi style dumplings to be quite unappealing! The broth was on the thin side and had no depth of flavor. The broth was way short of chicken flavor and almost tasted like canned soup. As a matter of fact, recalling desperate times when canned C&D were on the table, it was a better offering than Grace Meats dish. This dish was offered by the cup or bowl. I opted for a (bowl). I guess receiving the dish in a quite small cast iron skillet explains everything! A skillet is not a bowl, and fancy (chicken and dumplings) at Grace Meat is not what’s advertised. Beyond a terribly flavorless broth, obnoxiously poor mouth feel of the dumplings, a lack of adequate chicken to call it chicken soup, and serving up this total failure in a tiny skillet, there’s not much to say in the positive. My family all ordered different dishes, which, teenagers usually don’t bother to take enough time to enjoy, and adults seemed to enjoy, however there (was not) a wow to be had. At an average of $20.00 per person at our table, some comment of having a great meal should be expected. I didn’t taste the other meals and could not attest. However, the lack of enthusiasm was clear. Grace Meat + three was quite disappointing! Start over and kiss,( Keep it simple, stupid )!
Good foods all around! Everything salad is huge! Plenty to share. Friend green tomatoes were delicious. Chicken was kickin’. Good service and price.
Had a wonderful time at this restaurant, pleasantly surprised with the smoke bologna sandwich. The mac & cheese he is fantastic you can really taste the care that went into it. Have a wonderful wine reduction flavor. The cornbread was dense and flavorful my only gripe is that they did not allow the cornmeal to bloom overnight. Flavor was fantastic. As someone from Chicago I can only compare prices what I usually pay and it was very moderate and not very expensive. Mixed drinks are Enjoyable and the soda fountain has unusual soda combinations. Definitely worth taking the family or a date for a casual experience in American southern foods.
My buddy took me for brunch here on Sunday and i have to say that my mind was officially blown.I haven't had chicken and waffles as good as I had here since i lived in Colorado where there were 4 restaurants competing with each other to make the best possible new renditions of this dish imaginable.I will absolutely be returning here with my wife to really have every combination they have on their menu.Show up and bring your friends because this is the place for your chicken and waffle fix.
After finding out that the Southern restaurant was listed as temporarily closed, we decided to try Grace Meat + Three. Upon ordering we were told we would have to order al-a-carte. I ordered the half bird with cornbread and whipped mashed potatoes. My other guests ordered the chicken sandwich and chicken tenders with French fries. We each ordered a soft drink. We seated ourselves at a table and then got drinks which is self serve. Our food came out timely especially since I ordered fried chicken. After reading such great reviews on the fried chicken, I was a bit underwhelmed, although the breast was a little dry it wasn’t terrible, just not at the level I was anticipating. The other guests said their chicken sandwich - which was HUGE was good. The Chicken tenders were also Large and not overcooked. The cornbread I had didn’t taste freshly made to me, maybe it was but it was thick and kind of crumbly,. The whipped potatoes were great the only small complaint is the gravy that they served over them tasted like it had sage in it which “I” didn’t care for. All in all the food was decent. But for the price $48 and change I was hoping for a better experience.
Chicken and the fries = fire flames (yummy)
I was pleasantly surprised!! Chicken fried to perfection...
