Today was my first time at Dos Reyes. I'm here to tell you get in your car and go get some ASAP. It's that good!
Fantastic little Mexican cantina serving authentic south of the border food that is cooked properly and is just delicious. It has become my go-to spot for Hispanic food. Tacos and enchiladas are excellent. Beef is slow cooked and tender. The food at Dos Reyes is better than on Cherokee Street, so now I no longer have to drive there to get something close to authentic.
I had a good experience here on a sunny afternoon. I sat outside and was greeted quickly. The menu is varied and had a good number of vegetarian options, including veggie tacos, and the veggie enchiladas, which I ordered. The waitress brought chips and salsa. The chips are my big complaint--they tasted overly chewy, like they were stale, and both the chips and salsa needed salt. The enchiladas came out pretty quickly. The beans were absolutely delicious--I don't actually care for beans, so that's saying a lot! The rice was just okay. The enchiladas were good, and I added the tomato salsa on top of the salsa verde they came with. I also ordered a side of guac, which was yummy. The price was reasonable and it was an enjoyable meal on the patio.
It was our first time when we went for National Margarita Day and it was packed! We had some decent plates, but they weren’t as spicy or flavorful as I like. They’re weren’t bad. Service was solid for how many tables the 1-3 servers there.
Food is absolutely delicious. Flavors are amazing. The margarita is very good and strong. Staff was absolutely amazing and friendly!! I highly recommend this restaurant.I'm from Arizona and this restaurant with all the flavors needs to make it out there!!!
The food and service is pretty good. Consistent. The chips are literally the best thing going.Downside, the dining room has smelled like bathroom someone just bombed the last 6 times I have eaten there.
Excellent little find! Free chips & salsa, good prices, and generous portions. My fish tacos were loaded with fish! I ended up eating 2 and taking the 3rd one home for later ?
Having moved to STL from New Mexico, my husband and I couldn't wait to try this restaurant. Honestly - it was really disappointing. The food wasn't disgusting - it just wasn't all that great. The beans and cilantro rice were cold. The only thing that stopped me from sending my plate back for a spin in the microwave, was that my chimichunga was piping hot when I cut into it. The chorizo on the mexican chimichinga was an interesting twist, that I liked; but the liberal overuse of cilantro was extremely unpleasant for me. Mexican/Spanish rice should never be green. The queso blanco was ok. The chips were flimsy but tasty. The salsa was bland and had too much cilantro in it.The service was really awesome. Our waitress was great, friendly and was actually the best part of our experience. We personally can't understand the lure or the great reviews - but we're still glad we tried it. The food isn't spicy as another reviewer stated - but if you love (and I do mean REALLY LOVE) cilantro - then, this is your place .... it just isn't ours.
I love this place. The waiters Are nice,Such good food,So much kindness it is the best place to go.
I love this place. Their menu is different from a lot of the standard Mexican restaurants in the area and their patio is wonderful on a warm day. My favorite dishes are the street corn dip and the barbacoa tacos. Friendly staff and great food!
