The pho broth here should come with a WARNING of how spicy it is. First of all, I ordered mine online for delivery through grubhub and when placing my order it asked for spice level, I ordered level 2 (with 1 being mild and level 5 being the hottest) pho is generally a mild flavorful broth where you can add jalapeños and your own choice of spice to it for your spice liking) so the fact this had a spice level choice was confusing. I really was looking forward to a delicious authentic bowl of pho and what I received was the spiciest broth I have ever put my mouth to. The broth was full of seeds and chili flakes. When I did a taste test to verify flavor, I immediately saw fire in my eyes like in the cartoons and literally could feel my brain scream in pain!! It was inedible. This is not pho. I don’t know what this was or if someone spilled the jar of spices into my broth but wow. I don’t think I can eat pho for a while after this experience. Just for some background I have had pho from many different places across the country from East to West coast and this was by far the worst. Don’t get pho from here.
Amazing food. Recommend the Combo plate, chicken
Really good! I got the Honeydew Boba Smoothie (without boba) and the Stir Fry with Chicken and Soft Rice Noodles. Loved it! Cool atmosphere, too.
Reminiscent of a Mexican restaurant turned Vietnamese/Asian decor with Asian paintings hanging about. Also get snippets of fast food vibes albeit faint.Only had the beef pho so only commenting on that for reference.-it was alright for the most part but the noodles most apparently lacked substance. The restaurant was evidently using pre-packaged noodles, something that draws from the authenticity and flavor.-Additionally, the pho simply lacked enough meat. Most other pho restaurants I’ve been to contain 1.5 the meat. The meat itself was mediocre, nothing special to write back about.-The pricing too is a bit high for Vietnamese food of this quality. Would’ve expected the pho to range around $10 or so instead of $12-15.-Service is fine, nothing bad or good to specifically highlight.-I haven’t tasted the other pho restaurants in the area, so it could simply be this is still the best pho in St. Louis. Personally though, i found it lacking. Would give it 3.5/5 stars.Even still, overall I enjoyed the meal and I am rounding up to a 4 simply because I’d feel bad for lowering the restaurants high rating.
The food is delicious. Too many favorites to list but the chicken noodle soup is my go to for lunch. The chicken pot stickers are always great and the best Pad Thai I’ve had…really! The owners make you feel special each time I visit.
My daughter and I are very pleased with are experience and good food! As she continued to try and use her chop sticks (4 years old) gave a thumbs up and said delicious ??
I had the lunch special with chicken curry, it was delicious! The price was great!I would've loved to continue tasting their menu but I was only in town for work.Totally recommended!Great service and quick!
DAO TIEN staff are very friendly and accommodating. This fact alone would bring this to a 4 star. Then you add in the quality and flavor of the food, then you’re up in a 6 star review. If you want to have a great meal at at a reasonable price then this is the place for you. All food is made from scratch with love.
Located directly across the street from the old post office, this gem is what I drive to the city for. The slightly cramped entrance lent to a feeling of the restaurant blooming open in front of me like a lotus at dawn. The small cheerful bar was visible from the hostess station with the kitchens behind. Past the bar the ample dining area was well spaced and, again bright and cheerful like a lotus at mid day (even the art and color scheme). The staff was fun and engaging without being obtrusive in even the least little way. The menu was well organized. The selection ample and focused. I was here for pho. I had the lemongrass at a heat level of zero (apparently) and, I got a little sweat on my head and a few drips from my nose but, did not suffer from the heat, just barely, at zero. It was all very well balanced and, while a pho I had never tried before, still robust with the flavors I associate with pho. The meat and the broth battled mightily to be the element that stood out most in this dish while showing respect to the other elements. It was distinctly yummy. I got a lemongrass pho at heat level #2 for our youngest; he gave it to the oldest who is a bit more masochistic with his food. The seafood pho I tasted was like, Uncle, used to make; it made me happy inside as well. We got some rolls to go, the kids pho and, a bahn me. Leaving, the flower closed. We left the large bright booth and out the door into the dark night with our treasure, full bellies and, extremely positive feeling toward the individuals on the staff and, the restaurant. Thank you all for making our first night out in a year nothing but positive. Peace and prosperity on y'all and your families. Oh, I ate the bahn me while writing this; so yummy! I have to have a fresh one soon. You should too.
Wonderful place! Phó was awesome! Worth your lunch dollar!
