Great atmosphere! Great food! Great staff!Me and my grandson went there on a Sunday evening. Was greeted very welcoming and seated. Waiter Perry Y was very prompt to take our drink order and food order. Chips and salsa were also brought as soon as we sat down. When the food came was very appealing to look at and was also very good! My Grandson had Tamales and I had Ground beef soft Tacos. When we left I forgot my payment card and we had gotten at least a half block when Mr Perry came running after us shouting for us to stop to return my payment card. Thank you Mr Perry Y. for your prompt action to get my card back and also for your promptness serving us while we were there. Your Service did not go unnoticed. Your service was 5 Star Service!
Chava’s has a plethora of authentic Mexican food to choose from. Whatever you are craving, they have it.The good came out fresh and the service was good as well.
What a fantastic place or authentic mexican food. FOH & BOH were on point throughout our entire meal. The chips, fried in lard, get-out-of-here! The table salsa was very tasty, too. Our meals came in adequate time. Enough time to relax, but not too much time to get antsy. The food was on point! This truly is a great place in a historic section of St. Louis. Take a little trip and give it try.
DISGUSTING business practices. My waitress did not give my party enough attention, so she did not deserve much of a tip. But before I could give her what I thought she deserved, I got my ticket and noticed they added an automatic "gratuity" charge. 18%???? Really? The definition of gratuity is money given voluntarily. When I asked to talk to a manager about it, the waitress came back 10 minutes later saying the manager said if I don't like it, don't come back. She said it with an attitude. I won't come back.
Such a cool place! If you’re looking for yummy Mexican food and an awesome atmosphere, this is the place! Nestled right in historic Soulard, you can’t go wrong!
Place is freaking amazing! The flavor of everything is unbelievable. The atmosphere is wonderful too. I don't normally eat the rice, but even I ate the rice this time! The staff was amazingly fast especially since we came in 20 minutes before closed. And the salsa was even exceptional. I'm not even kidding. It is exceptional!
In town for a few days & wanted some Mexican food. The house rock margarita tasted good. I tried their tamales and they were alright. Was a little bit on the dry side. We also ordered the chicken quesadilla & cheese enchilada & they were just ok.
Great twist on some traditional Mexican foods that make it very unique.... Salsa is a little too chunky but I'm sure some people are excited for that salsa. Also the chips are just a little thick for me. The deep fried tacos were soft shell.. Great flavor of the tacos and the tamales.
I Love Some Good Authentic Mexican Food. First Time Visiting &This Place Did Not Disappoint! We Came On A Monday Evening &They Were Fairly Busy So For Our Party Of 5 We Decided On Outdoor Seating. (*Any Party Of 5+ You Will Get Charged Gratuity) The Ambience For Their Outdoor Seating Was A Vibe.. Though The Actually Seating Is A Bit Reclined And You Have To Be Careful If People Walking By Will Bump You ?- The Queso Is Really Good. (*If You Get Nachos., They Have Baked Cheese NOT Queso Cheese)- I Decided On Chicken Enchiladas!?Price: ~ $13/Entree??? Customer Service: 3/10 ⭐️? Food: 5/10 ⭐️You Can Definitely Tell By The Customer Service/Overall Vibe This Is A White Owned Establishment.
I'm from out of town. I looked for a Mexican restaurant and I found Chava's. The salsa is out of this world delicious. My wife is disabled and we got to sit out on the patio because her scooter would not fit inside the restaurant. It was a blessing in disguise. I've never dined out on the patio before and it was really enjoyable. The wait staff is very friendly and attended well to our needs.
