Arrived to a very busy atmosphere and we were quickly greated and seated. Our server was very friendly and attentive with our order for drinks and appetizers. The fried mushrooms and pork tenderloin bites(sauce is the best) were out of this world good. Two of us had the ribs and one had the brisket and the meat was absolutely amazing, the sides of beans, cheesy potatoes, coleslaw, and sweet potatoe fries were spectacular as we all shared. The server kept up with our drinks and we all left full. Best bbq we have had in quite sometime, cannot wait to get back. As a firefighter first responder I thoroughly honored their respect they showed within their menu.
Well I gave it a try again as I do every few years. Items were Buffalo Honey Mustard wings, St Mary’s Cheesesteak salad and MSGR Forst Smoked Brisket . *Wait staff was great! *Wings tough and it was a chore to tear them apart at the joints. Dry on the inside and soppy on the outside-like camouflage for the nightmare within. *Salad was good-no complaints. *Brisket tasted like it was soaked in liquid smoke more so than smokey flavor from a smoker, it was also tough. Mixed vegies were hard not just crunchy sprinkled with some tasteless powder-thinking it was garlic powder (how about used real garlic when you cook), Texas toast had some dirty greasy black grill marks but remained white and no butter and a baked potato. I started my garbage pile with the bread, added the veggies and all the fat from the brisket and the biggest piece of the brisket that was as hard as beef jerky. The baked potato was barely warm and would not melt the butter and sour cream. The only thing good this place has is the wait staff going for it. This place would probably be great with new management or even a new owner(s). The building and location has potential to do far better than it does. What happened between 2015 and the packed house dining this place used to draw? Owners split? Change of ownership completely?
Steak sandwich w/sweet potato fries covered in powdered sugar ? Great atmosphere, friendly people. You can't go wrong here. Great selection of food and drinks. Covered separate smoking section if that's your thing. Also, check out their other restaurant Smokin'Pi in Desoto.
The salad was sub par at best. Big chunks of lettuce that shouldn't be. The chicken was cubed and tough and couldn't find the bacon. The buffalo wings were hard fried like left from the day before. I've been here several times and was not disappointed, but yesterday ?. What I salvaged wasn't enough for a side salad.
Sorry you can only give 5 stars or it would get more. Great food...amazing portions. My brother suggested going there after our father's funeral. There was about 21 in our group and though it was unplanned with no reservations they welcomed us and treated us like family. New favorite place in south county. The owner is so friendly... Can't say enough good things about the place.
Friendly server. Nice atmosphere. Good food. Long wait. Orders did not come out at the same time.In response to the owner's questions:We were a party of four. We arrived in late afternoon - between lunch and dinner rushes. There were plenty of open tables, not crowded. Three of us were mostly finished by the time the fourth was served. I dislike the excuse, "nobody wants to work". For the right price, people will work - retirees will come out of retirement, stay-at-home parents will find daycare. The truth is, nobody wants to work for below-market wages anymore. You have great employees and great food at low prices. Raise your prices, pay your employees what they are worth, and hire more of them to provide good service. Then I'll give you five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The thick cut bacon appetizer alone is worth a trip out here, but they do a great job with all the menu items. It's a great spot with interesting decor and a friendly staff. You'll love it, go give them a try.
Best wings around. Stoked then fried?!? Delightful. Service was lacking. I had to go to the bar for refills in soda and beer because my server disappeared so many times. And we were 1 of 6 tables seated. Bartender was awesome, food was amazing. Decor outstanding
Service was good, food was so-so. We were seated immediately for a Friday night that is really nice. We are local to the area and have always wanted to try this place, slightly disappointed when we realized it's much more of a BBQ place than a cafe. Thankfully they do have a wide range of options on the menu. Maybe we just didn't order the right things but none of us were super impressed with our food. Prices are good though.
Went in on a Sunday evening, and I get it, staffing is an issue. But the front of the house seemed pretty fully staffed. Our server was very disheveled. She would literally whip past the table giving us no chance to get her attention. It took a loong time to get our food, one item was cooked wrong, but didn't bother correcting it lest we wait another 40+ minutes. Want to support local, so we will be back. But I hope it's better next time.
