This place was great! Devin our server was absolutely on point. Very attentive and very personable! The atmosphere was very relaxed and the menu was perfect and the portions were very reasonable. We tried a handful of things. We had the spicy edamame (really tasty), fries oysters (the sauce was delicious, and we had 5 different types of sushi! We got the Blue O, Shanghai, Godzilla, Spicy Octopus, and Take A Chance (this was a cool one). My favorite ones were the Blue O and the Shanghai. The cool part about Take A Chance was that it came out flaming which was really awesome! Next time we're in town we're absolutely coming back. The manager was awesome and very personable!
Good ramen, rolls, curry, and takoyaki. Would recommend getting the sampler. That's what I almost always order.
First time dining here and I enjoyed it thoroughly. Getting seating was slow, but restaurant appeared to have been a bit short staffed maybe. Definitely busy, so be patient. Staff is friendly and helpful. Not a large dine in area so again be patient, and you can dine at the bar too. Very worth the wait, some of the best sushi I have had! Awesome menu, delicious, quality food. Warm sake was perfect. I see why they won best sushi accolades two years in a row. I wasn't pleased with my whiskey sour drink, but did not complain, I just didn't drink it. I guess Patrick noticed and when I got my bill, the drink had been comp off, so kudos to him for being attentive, and great customer service.
My new favorite place. I haven't had Japanese cuisine this good since living near korea town in GA. The staff were fun to talk to!
Very short on seating and recommend ordering Togo. I would recommend the owners to rearrange the entrance and seating area near the window to host more people and reduce the wait time. Food is delicious
I love the place. But I waited like an hour for my food. The food was delicious tho.
This was one of my favorite sushi restaurants until tonight. So my family came to celebrate my sister’s birthday. Sushi is my sister’s and family’s favorite. We pre called advising them that it would be 8 of us coming to dine into the restaurant. At no time did the caller tell us that they could not accommodate our group or was there anything on their website advising that they had a “maximum group policy of 6”. Myself and my mom arrived early and had a few drinks prior to the remainder of our party showed up. Upon the arrival of the rest of my party, a server came over and told us that they don’t know if they could seat our party due to the fact that “there was 8 of us” and that a minimum gratuity would be applied. I didn’t care about the gratuity part because I NORMALLY TIP MORE THAN 20% on the entire bill for good service! The server then said that she was going to go in back to check with her manager and get back with us. She then came back and told us that she spoke with the “manager” and ASKED US TO LEAVE due to the fact that we had too many people in our party and that the manager was unavailable to talk to us. I normally do not leave bad reviews but I am extremely upset due to the fact of this server nonchalant attitude and that out of nowhere they enacted a policy on my family that initially did not exist. I will not be coming back.
So I've tried Blue Ocean in the loop a few times now and can honestly say I haven't found anything I dislike yet! All the servers have been friendly and attentive. I try to get some different to eat every time and have not been let down yet! The atmosphere is fun, it's perfect for a date night, night out with friends or family time, my kids ask to go every time we go out? Seriously this place is definitely our go to for sushi or ramon....one of our favorites is the loaded avocado. Oh and there are plenty of choices if you're like me and can't eat rice.
The udon is my favorite! I tried Salmon rind Roll and A Tempura roll today and OMG it was delicious ?
I have heard amazing reviews about this place and finally decided to try it myself but I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered through Doordash and by the time food arrived at me it was cold and soggy and didn't enjoy the food. I would love to give them another try by going there for Dine-in but right now I do think there are way better Japanese restaurants in STL.
