I had never eaten deep dish pizza outside of the Chicago area that I thought was good. The pizza from this place was better than some of the pies I've had in the Chicago area. Add on that Claire is an amazing server/bartender and this place is a must visit in my opinion. It is more of a bar atmosphere than restaurant (personally I liked that), but just order to go if that's something you're not into.

This has been a terrific place for a long time, and while I no longer live in the metro area, a recent visit confirmed that. You don’t have to get Chicago style, but theirs is so good, why wouldn’t you? Please don’t complain that it takes an hour to get it-this is the way this style works. Ingredients are always good, sauce has a little kick to it. Just go!

Best pizza deal in St. Louis. Their Chicago style pizza is unmatched for the price in my opinion. A large will last you days if not a week and a single large will feed 6-8 people. Do it, you won't regret it.Before you do though here are some important takeaways:1. Pizza of this size and quality takes time. Be prepared to give them at least 45 minutes after your order. So plan accordingly, order ahead, and you will not be disappointed.2. If you're going in, what I said above still stands. Plan to hang out a while, have some drinks, hang out with friends and have a good time, enjoy the food when it comes out. Make an evening of it. If you really want to be prepared, call ahead and ask what the expected wait times are.3. If you're pressed for time or in a hurry, consider something else and save yourself and the staff the headache of dealing with an unsatisfied customer because regardless of how you slice it... It's a necessary process.

Blackthorn pizza offers a variety of choices, but when it comes to their pizza the ChicagoDeep dish is the absolute way to go. A large or 14” is more than enough for a family of 4. My husband and I ordered a large Chicago deep dish for 2 and will have about 4-5 gigantic slices of heaven waiting for us the next day or two. The crust is stuffed with cheese and has just the right amount of pizza sauce - not too little not too much. The cheese on top is super stretchy and just so good.It is located in a tucked away corner south of tower grove and offers street side parking. The inside is filled with tvs for sports watching and a lot of fun bar games. I prefer the shuffleboard - so fun - and they have skew all and other things as well. The beer selection is great for simple and particular beer drinkers alike. Despite the ridiculously thick pizza, the service is pretty quick and staff is friendly. It’s a combination of family and party scene and a great place to bring guests visiting from out of town who may not be familiar with the Chicago deep dish style. An absolute must try if you haven’t already.

Thought I would have to drive over to Fairview Heights for a good Chicago pizza from Joe's Pizza and pasta. Blackthorn did not disappoint the taste buds.

The food was awesome. The experience...not so much. We got here right when they opened and a large party ordered before we did. Our wait for pizza was 2 hours and 15 minutes. We ordered a small cheese bread and a Chicago style pepperoni/sausage. The cheese bread alone was the size of a pizza! The pizza was great, large and flavorful!! Had I been reviewing the food alone it would be a 5 star. The experience wasn't great. Everything is ordered from the bar, so if you plan on having a few drinks, plan on standing in line to refill your glass. All in all a good dinner but I won't do it again.

I can't recommend this place enough. Excellent Chicago style handmade pizza with a authentic st Louis city style atmosphere. Ice cold beer, and the flavors and quality of the pizza is top notch. Dave Difani is a great server and very attentive. Be warned, these pizzas are so thick they take about 45 minutes to make, so plenty of time for a few drinks. One pizza is plenty enough for 4 people.

We were the the second group of customers in the door. After waiting almost 2 hours after ordering I went up to the bar to ask about our pizza. Apparently it had been ready for quite some time but they thought it was carry out. Nobody came to check on our table this entire time or this could have been avoided. As far as the pizza goes, it was just okay. I don’t like the sausage or bacon Black Thorne pub uses so it really wasn’t worth the wait.I had a couple of beers which were fine, the Tom Collins my mom ordered from the bar was awful. When I went to pay my bill the bartender couldn’t find my tab on their POS and indicated to me that since we had the issues we had, the order was on the house. I was happy with this outcome. Today I woke up to the bill being charged on my credit card.

This is the BEST pizza anywhere. Everytime I am in St. Louis I always recomend this place. Bar none the best anywhere

Poor customer service. Do not order online or call ahead. They won't have your pizza ready and you will have to wait another 45 minutes.Long story short, I ordered a two topping Chicago-style pizza using BLACKTHORN'S WEBSITE. Pepperoni and Bacon.Email says to arrive at 750 pm - an hour and half after placing my order. I have no issue with this. It's busy, it's Saturday night, I get it.I arrive at the restaurant 20 minutes AFTER the suggested pick-up time because from previous experience, Blackthorn is always running behind.I wait in line a bit to be helped. Eventually, it's my turn, when some guy from the kitchen informs me that my pizza, not only isn't ready, but hasn't even been started! He proceeds to show me the receipt of my order, which didn't specify the toppings."How am I supposed to cook this pizza if I don’t know what toppings are supposed to be on it?" were his exact words. He acted as if it was my fault my pizza wasn't ready.Absolutely ridiculous. It was such a lousy excuse. Perhaps call/email me and ask?! You have all of my information from the online order.I was so irritated I simply asked for my money back. I will never order from this incompetent establishment again.Dominos runs a tighter ship than these folks.
