The hotel is by the Fox theatre on a cool stretch of Grand not what I consider bad. The rooms definitely need to be cleaner. The covers on the throw pillows need to be washed after every checkout. The blankets on the end of the bed should be washed after every checkout! The pillows on the couch need to be cleaned and sanitized there were literally cum stains on the furniture I threw a towel over it and didn’t sit on the couch the entire stay. I didn’t complain because this was allegedly the upgrade so if the upgrade isn’t even clean this hotel has work to do. The staff is awesome, everyone very polite but the housekeeping needs to be better. Stop overbooking rooms if you don’t have the staff to clean.
The hotel is in an area that feels isolated day and night, there’s absolutely nothing going on. As we entered the building, the art gallery has a permanent smell of gas, is that part of the art? Lol Hated the fact that the lobby is on the 12th floor, makes you feel abandoned, you check in and never see a hotel employee again unless you go to the 12th floor. The slim guy who checked us in was in a hurry and did not explain anything, like the fact that they hold the cost of your stay plus $75 per day on your credit card for incidentals. Ice machine is only on odd number floors. Breakfast is more than $20, it was 48 for 2 people. Commonwealth restaurant is pricey, so beware. We got a yellow room (808) pretty spacious, AC was perfect, closet space is limited. Bathroom is amazingly large, we loved it. Room was spotless, loved the shower. Loved the art.
The hotel was so beautiful. The lobby was gorgeous make sure to look around there. The bed and pillows were so comfortable I slept so good. The safety inside the hotel was really great. The only real complaint I had was the parking spot you pay for is in a gated area but also you can walk right through. The breakfast options were very expensive a small cheap continental breakfast would have been a nice touch.
The most important thing about the hotel would have to be how clean and well put up the rooms are. We found a used towel on the floor in our room and a pair of socks someone supposedly left behind next to the bed. On the pillow, we found someone else’s hair. There was dust everywhere, in the curtains/bathroom stalls/ lamps. Overall we could tell that the room was not cleaned properly. We loved the city but the hotel was just straight out disappointing. Never visiting again.
The hotel is in the middle of a very nice area in St Louis. Walking distance from a lot of really cool areas. The rooms were nice, and it's a very interesting experience at this hotel. Would recommend!
This hotel was amazing from the start. As much as I love art, this hotel exceeded our expectations. From the door man, to the reception desk, and the manager were all gracious and hospitable. Bed was comfy, bathroom was decorated wonderfully. That lamp lounge, and the purple room were breathtaking. I will definitely be back soon.
My 23 year old daughter returned to our room in tears. Two male staffers sent her to the rooftop bar to purchase a soda alone rather than sell her one in the lobby as their policy states. This was a packed Friday happy hour and her first time in the city, She just wanted to run her mom a soda not visit a packed bar alone. I could overlook that not once did housekeeping clean our suite in 3 days and the dismissive attitude during check in. Kindness and compassion should be number one at this time in the world particularly when it's your business.
Very nice and unique place to stay.
Our well-travelled family of five including three teenage boys really enjoyed the hotel and the location. The rooms are a nice size, comfy beds and very clean. We had two rooms which the hotel went to the effort of putting us on the same floor. The artful eye in every room and the quality of the amenities was very impressive. You will be hard pressed to find a better value in a better location than this hotel. Mere minutes from downtown and right up against St Louis University, there are plenty of restaurants around. Do yourself a favor eat at the Fountain on Locust and Pappy's Smokehouse while you are there. Enjoy.
Do not come here on the weekends if you need to get to sleep before midnight. While it’s a cool thing to have a rooftop bar, the music— especially the bass— permeates to much lower floors. They are nice and offer (useless) earplugs or to change the room, a hassle. But that should not be necessary. They should be 100% upfront about loud music from the bar. This hotel is way too expensive for this nonsense. I don’t care about choosing a color room when what I really need to choose is whether to stay where loud music is a surprise part of the package. If this was not the case I’d give this hotel a higher rating. I’d come here to party, not for anything business related. The artwork is beautiful; it’s a good boutique WEEKEND PARTY hotel. This needs to be disclosed upfront for guests staying multiple days. I wish I left sooner and this was a good experience, but I overstayed until party time.
