A very nice place to sit, eat, have a drink, enjoy very good sushi. Been coming here for years and always enjoy a re-visit. Staff is amazing as well.
They bill themselves as a traditional environment but the reality is far from it. The atmosphere is pleasant enough but it's modern English music coming over the speakers and a college sport game playing on the TVs over the bar.The owners were very hard working, as were the other servers. Our server put in a lot of effort to appear busy, and came off as inexperienced at best.In spite of the name, there are no grill items on the menu. The sushi is decent enough quality, but hardly the best available nearby. They could definitely use more ginger in their preparation to help with the flavor.All in all, we weren't impressed, but didn't regret the decision to go.
This is my favorite sushi place! Great sushi every time, my go to rolls are the Geisha Roll and Spicy Tuna, yum! I always say I will try something new, and my sister has tried many different rolls and loves them, but that Geisha roll is just too good to skip!!
We love Umi and have been avid customers for over 10 years now. We understand everyone is short for employees in this time but it’s becoming increasingly frustrating that every time we call to place a pick up order, Umi isn’t accepting orders, and then sometimes you’ll call 5 minutes later and all the sudden they are accepting orders? We have tried to eat here atleast 10 times in the last month and have been turned away. It’s the best sushi in town and we just want to be able to give you our money again! Please help!
My favorite sushi place in Springfield. Servers are always so friendly & I haven’t had a roll I haven’t liked. Kissy kissy is my go to & if you haven’t tried it, you definitely should. Crab poppers are AMAZING as well! I tell everyone I know about this place.
If you enjoy rude waiters, subpar food, and horrible service, this is the place for you. We were seated and our order taken, and that was about the end of the service. Even though we were one of only two tables there, our waiter never came back to check on us or refill our glasses. The waitress who brought out the food and banged it down on the table was incredibly rude. I couldn’t get the waiter to bring the eco, despite motioning to him multiple times. I would go so far as to call this one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. I have told, and will continue to tell everyone that I encounter how awful this place is.

I have never in my life been treated so poorly at a restaurant. The waiter and waitress that we encountered were both rude to us and ignored us after the food was dropped (almost literally) off at our table. Our glasses were never refilled, the waiter never checked back with us, I couldn’t even get the guy to bring me the check. I finally had to go up and ask for it. When I asked him why he had treated us so poorly, he shrugged. I honestly wish I could say it was because they were short staffed, but we were the only table there. Don’t waste your time or money on this awful service and subpar food.
First time my wife and I came here we had a really rude waitress. After my friends begged me to give it another shot, it's the only place we go now. Their food is amazing and they have the best miso soup. Haven't had a rude server since.
