We came here for a party and the service was amazing! She came to check on us frequently and was very personable with us.Our food came out in a timely manner and was perfectly made! Their portion sizes are very decent for americanized sushi.Their late night menu has a good variety and there's something on it for everyone! Their garnishes are edible and delicious!The sauces are out of this world! And their cocktails, you can't even taste the alcohol and they are not too fruity like most house cocktails are.The ambiance of the place is gorgeous, calming music, low lighting, makes you feel like royalty.
Terrible waiter. Unhelpful and couldn’t be bothered. Late night menu has zero dietary restriction friendly options. After ensuring that we ordered things that were dairy free and paying extra to do so, he allowed us to order a menu item with cheese that was not disclosed on the menu. Wouldn’t ask chefs if we could sub out the cream cheeses in the rolls for something else. We had to ask for utensils. And the place was not busy. I have been to many other sushi restaurants in Springfield that are considerably more accommodating with friendlier and more knowledgeable wait staff and for less $$$ too. And to add insult to injury the rolls were mediocre at best. The cool vibe and great music will not be enough to entice us back any time soon. Oh also reached out to them on their Facebook page and my message, which was very kind, though viewed was totally ignored. ?
Service was really slow and we watched our food sit on the sushi counter for over 20+ minutes because the bartender was too busy taking shots (3 times) with his customers even though there was a different excuse each time he finally made it to our table. We were there for 2 hours and just wanted to leave. I normally go to haruno and will stick with going there. Haruno has always had such great, professional service. The rolls are better there too, maybe from not sitting so long on the counter.
Overall I was EXTREMELY pleased with my experience at Kai Afterdark. It is such a fun and unique atmosphere! I got the oh my god roll and it literally came on fire! Plus it tasted delicious. So cool! I can’t wait to come back. 10/10 would recommend
We visited this place because it was open late, but we enjoyed our experience very much. The interior is very stylish, has a romantic atmosphere. The table was shaking when we came in, but one of the waiters helped us fix the problem. The waitress was very nice and friendly. The food wasn’t the best, though. We tried Japanese all over the world, and there places much better, but it was still decent. The Jurassic Park sushi was very nice. Seafood Yakisoba was fine, and the seafood soup was very spicy. Overall, we enjoyed our visit, and thanks to the waitress Olga for excellent service.
We had never tried Kai before. Always meant to but just never made it there. So sorry we hadn’t tried it sooner. The variety of sushi and sashimi is huge. We tried four rolls and a each one was made to perfection with the freshest ingredients.The service was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommend Kai for sushi anytime.
It was a very nice and upscale scenery, I went for my one year anniversary for me and my girlfriend. We got sat down immediately bc of a reservation and got to order everything pretty quick, drinks, appetizer, and entree all at once. We waited about 20 mins for my single pomegranate margitrita and another 30 mins for our entrees. We never got our sushi and I ended up having it made to go because even after we finished our dinner , we never got our sushi. How sad after all the praise of this place. Maybe next time we can actually enjoy our dinner.
Food was really good but service was lacking. There were very long pauses between times that the server came to check up on us as well as taking our bill. Appetizers came out at the same time our entrees did so the table got cramped very quickly. I understand that they may be under staffed but the waiting was a little long.
Great sushi, apps, and sides. Not crazy about the steak but honestly I ordered a steak and a sushi restaurant. Roy however was superb. If I was going to open a restaurant this is the person I would ask to run it for me. In fact I would make Roy a controlling owner. Smart, fast, and friendly. The perfect employee.
Came to Kai on a date all the way from California where the standards for food are super high where ever you are. Throughout the entire trip I generally had been unimpressed with the food besides Missouri’s weird love for custard, but let me tell you Kai After Dark absolutely blew me away. An incredible menu and great service! Inexpensive as well! especially if you’re coming from the west where beautiful food like that will break your pockets. You can tell there’s a lot of love put into that food. On my trip back to Missouri I’ll definitely be back here! Absolutely incredible and an amazingly romantic atmosphere. Perfect date night. Oh and someone give Colton a raise please, very attentive and did an amazing job!
