The chips and salsa were great. The atmosphere was just as decribed and it was a great environment for brunch. To bad it was raining becuase the patio looks like a great place to eat. As again I had the salad and it was great. Everyone within our party looks to have enjoyd the time. The food came out very timely and was delicious

Food was excellent, flavor profiles were crisp and right on.Service was not so great, chalking it up to not everyday is a good day.

My daughter-in-law made reservations for 10 of us on Saturday night for a birthday dinner. We wanted 7:00ish, they said they could do 8pm. We'll take it, no problem. We get delayed and she calls to let them know we're running a little late (15-20min) and they move it to 8:30. The man tells her they don't have her reservation and is blatantly rude to the point she is visibly upset. I've really wanted to try the food so we go anyway. Four of us arrive and wait by the host stand and get no acknowledgement. A server is working a couple of tables to the left and ignores is. Others are in the bar and patio area. The majority of the inside is empty. The remaining six arrive, and we have 2 infants, so it's a good size group at the front now. Nothing. My husband goes to the bar to see if there a host. The bartender is rude as well but says they have a hostess. A few more minutes and the hostess rushes out from the back. We get seated. This is a solid 10 minutes just to be seated in an empty restaurant. We get situated and order drinks and apps. Our server leans against the wall and types our orders into her handheld. What do you want? What do you want? What do you want? 10 times. She could not have been less interested in this group of great tipping service staff. My order was incorrect and she argued with me that it was the same as my daughter in laws. It's the same, it's the same. That's great but I didn't order the same thing. The steak and gorgonzola in front of me isn't the portobello and goat cheese I ordered. I literally had to argue with her. I received my replacement order and my husband was still waiting on his beef fajitas. He didn't get to eat with the rest of us as we were already finished, we had his packed to go. His beef wasn't the same as my son's beef in his fajita trio. This should have been a lively group of drinkers celebrating a huge family weekend but the service across the board ruined the evening. The food was delicious and my husband and I will be back to try again but our out of town guests won't get that chance. The one food runner we had was the best employee we came across. He ran a couple of plates but at lest he had a friendly smile. The 2 stars are for the food. If it wasn't such a big group and later in the evening we would have left after 8 minutes of not being acknowledged at the front door.

Hosted a party of 20 here on a Tuesday night and it was an all around great experience. Moira and her team took great care of us and made sure our Herradura Cucumber and Mint Margaritas El Jimador Anejo Old Fashioneds were delicious. The tacos were great, but the jalapeño poppers were my favorite. I'll definitely be back to enjoy the patio.

We came here for brunch for my bachelorette party. We ordered Ceviche appetizer and bottomless mimosas and then avocado toast. While it tasting AMAZING... several hours later I ended up with terrible food poisoning from the ceviche. I ate wayy more than my friends who had very minor symptoms (but had symptoms non the less) while I was full on suffering. Ruined my bachelorette night.

We were there during happy hour. My margarita was terrible, could only taste the mix and left most of it. The 3 crab cakes for $10 was left on the plate after one bite. I could taste a lot of breading and barely any crab. The tacos were average. Service was adequate. Would definitely not go back.

Have always wanted to try Zocalo as we love Mexican food and love the plaza. Host and server were great. Guacamole was really good, we tried the el jefe and the house margaritas, they were ok, but have had much better and very small for the price. Dinner for 4 we had Baja shrimp tacos - worst shrimp taco I have ever had, dry, gummy tortillas, too much slaw and very little taste. 2 ordered pork belly chimichanga, not bad, but beans and rice on side were dry/stuck to plate, probably sat too long before served and barely warm. Taco sampler cold and no flavor. We really wanted to love this place, and would go back for chips and margaritas, but margaritas are not worth returning and food definitely not worth it. Very disappointing.

I do not reside in Kansas City, but when I visit this is one of my favorite spots to take my girlfriend. Unfortunately this experience was uncharacteristic of past visits. It was a nice day outside, so we asked for a table in the outdoor area and were seated indoors. Once seated we waited 15 minutes before anyone came to our table. I had to go back to the hostess area and ask where our waiter was, it had been the man that walked past us multiple times. It took roughly 25 minutes to get our drinks. We started noticing people that came in after us were already leaving with their food in boxes. When our food came to the table, the chicken on my girlfriends salad was very dry in a jerky like texture. My tacos were cold. When we asked for a box, the waiter walked past us with a box and then sat down with a woman at the table across from us and conversed with her for 10 minutes.Overall the experience was not good.

Have been here several times now and it's great. I have been to alot of Mexican resturants at all price points and locations and this is one of the only ones that doesn't do free chips and salsa. That's really the only negative I can say. The drinks are tasty, the food is delicious and service has always been good. I will be back for sure.

Most of my party thought their food was unimpressive, especially for the price. My crab cakes were burnt, potatoes were bland, and I ordered over medium eggs but got over easy. Without even asking, they brought out 2 more eggs that were supposed to be over medium, but were still over easy. I didn't complain until they charged me $4 for the 2 eggs they brought out. Place looks nice but the food is not worth the price.
