Three of us went to Wah Gwan for lunch. This was our first time trying authentic Jamaican/African cuisine and we were beyond happy with the experience. We had two Pineapple and Ginger Sodas, a Coke, and a bottle of Water to drink. I ordered the Coconut Curry Shrimp with rice. Tye ordered the Escovitch Fish with rice. L-ordered the Jerk Chicken with rice. I also ordered three Beef Patties for the table. We each ordered something different because we wanted to be able to expand and try three different dishes. The portions were more than expected and we all had food left over. The Beef Patties are beyond delicious. I’m personally not a huge pastry fan, but these are absolutely a must try! Our bill was $62.69 before adding the tip. The food is amazing, the service was great, the decor and overall feel of this place is uniquely perfect for the food on offer. They have free Wi-Fi, clean bathrooms, large comfortable seating options, a corner chess table set up, and plenty of parking in the back of the restaurant. You can enter the restaurant through the back door. I always feel kind of weird going through back doors at restaurants, but their back door opens right up into a hallway that quickly leads to the large open space of the restaurant. We will definitely be going again!
This is my first time and I got the jerk chicken, a beef pattie, and had to get a pink ting to drink before all was said and done. Everyone was fridndly and helpful explaining the menu. As for my dishes, I will definitely be getting a beef pattie no matter what else I order, could probably get by just ordering 5 or 6 of them and calling it a meal! My jerk chicken literally fell off the bone when I went to pick it up, was well seasoned, and was great with the accompying sauce! If I am in the area again I hope to try out more of the menu!
One of the best tasting Jamaican restaurants I’ve been to. The food mirrors the service. A must do when in the Kansas City area. The jerk sauce and chicken, I’m writing back home about it.
Very nice establishment. Great customer service and the food was delicious.
4 of us, different meals (goat, curry oxtail, beef suya, honey garlic tofu), all great. Apologies for no photos. All of us would come back.
When i walk in the ambience is lovely. Loved the food here especially with great expectations, the escovitch fish is my favorite well seasoned and not overwhelming ?. The puff puff are great and cabbage is good! Owner very friendly. Thank you.
This space is sacred and the food is heavenly and healing. I love Tan, she puts so much love into her art! I highly recommend!
Amazing comfort food, portions were big enough to have leftovers. Beef patties are perfect! Lovely atmosphere and very welcoming people.
