Scott’s Kitchen serves the best burnt ends and baked beans I have ever tasted, and the ribs are phenomenal. I was traveling to the Kansas City Airport for my departure flight, so I wanted to find some food nearby. I noticed this restaurant was only 1 1/2 miles away, little did I know this was the best barbecue in Kansas City. I’ve eaten at all the major barbecue restaurants in Kansas City, hands-down this is the best. I ordered the 4 rib and burnt end platter, for sides I ordered baked beans and potato salad. The burnt ends and baked beans are the best I’ve had from any restaurant in the country, and the ribs are definitely in my top three. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere at this restaurant was very laid-back and welcoming. If you want to try Kansas City style barbecue, you have some of the best barbecue you’ve ever tasted at this restaurant.
Everything about it from the moment we walked in. It was fast, friendly, and delicious. This is Kansas City barbecue for ya!
As this was our first visit, we wanted to sample across the menu, so we opted for pancakes with house made sausage patties, a single chicken wing, and a Choose 2 brisket and burnt ends plate with sides of cheesy potatoes and jalapeno apple slaw. Both sides were outstanding, the slaw being one of the nation's best. It has good flavor in its own right, but at the same time offers the cold, crisp clarity that can make coleslaw the ideal palate cleansing bite between different meats. The pancakes were good, and the sausage top-notch, with just enough of a jalapeno kick to make it interesting. Alas, the chicken wing was unremarkable, save for the feather that was embedded in it. The lean brisket slices did not pass the pull test, and the understated central Texas style rub offered little in the way of a flavor profile. The burnt ends, in contrast, proved sufficiently moist, but again offered little in the way of flavor. We hit both with the sweet sauce on the table in order to bring them to life. In sum, the price point here is good, the sides outstanding, and likewise the sausage. We'll visit Scott's again to see if the ribs can make up for the disappointing brisket and burnt ends.
I had Scott's Kitchen on my "want to go" list for quite some time, everything fell in place for my wife and I to finally do it. I can tell you, now, first hand, that it was everything I imagined it to be! I had a two meat plate, burnt ends and 4 ribs with baked beans and an amazing turkey gumbo for sides, my wife had the smoked turkey with cheesy potatoes and jalapeno coke slaw. I love new and interesting places to eat, but Scott's Kitchen is out of this world! We will be going there hopefully for years to come, not just for the award winning bar b que, but for everything else on the menu as l am quite confident that everything is award winning! I have to mention the staff as well because they were so helpful, kind and patient with us first timers, I'm giving them five stars as well!
Don't let the outside appearance fool you! Skip the local chains and hit this place! Grabbed some breakfast before heading to the airport. Burnt end tacos sooooo good! Decent coffee, very friendly service. Happy we stopped in!
The food is AMAZINGLY delicious! Did not expect to find this kinda BBQ in this area. Everyone was kind and welcoming, sweet tea is wonderful! The tacos... Loved them❣️ all the ingredients were fresh, wings were huge! Overall, loved it!
Came to KC and had to try some good BBQ. This place knocked it out of the park. By far the best burnt ends I’ve ever had!!
We had the shrimp tacos and burnt end burrito. Both were great! Smaller space but food came out super fast and they kept people moving through with opening up seating quickly. Was for sure worth the stop!!
I discovered this place a few years back while I was in town, still to this day I have not had BBQ better than this. I make sure every time I'm around I make a pitstop especially for the burnt ends. The last time I was in town was on the weekend and they were closed, I reached out to them and on Monday morning before I left town then made sure to have a fresh thing of burnt ends waiting for me.
A Diamond in the rough. Great barbecue made every day. Growing business that aims to please. This is a casual restaurant and soon will offer outdoor seating
