Nostalgic going back to the Peanut on Main. The Peanut is a pleaser and our 1st stop when a friend flew in from Texas. The wings are huge and well worth the price and the BLT is the best one around.
Very small and crowded, I am sure I would enjoy the atmosphere much more if I had a little more room to breathe. The man sitting behind me had his chair pushed out so far that I couldn't move my own chair even an inch, and he still didn't have a lot of wiggle room either. There is a sketchy back door entrance as well, when you first open the door you get the immediate sense that you've entered a "staff only" room as it is a dark, musty hallway full of mops, buckets, etc., but it is the one and only entrance/exit as the proper front door has been closed off. All in all, I can't say I wouldn't return as the staff were very outgoing and the food was decent, but probably not in a party of more than 4.
we were told to come to a peanut location because the wings are so good, so we were super excited to try its home location. upon arriving the guy was super busy but extremely quick... but right after the first couple interactions, it was obvious we were forgotten about. it took 45 minutes to get 3 wings and a reuben. that was the first thing that was crazy. after it came out we did not even recieve an apology, but we brushed it off due to a shift change. then after waiting another 30 minutes for our check that we asked for, we decided to get up and see if we could just pay it at the bar. THEN they continued to bus, seat and take orders from the new people at the table we had JUST gotten up from to pay before we were even addressed at the bar.... that we were standing at for like 15 minutes just trying to pay. (we were literally inches away from the table being served, being ignored by the server). Finally, when we got the bartenders attention we let him know we were just trying to pay and leave and he said "yeah you guys hold on one minute" and then walked over to the group next to us at the bar and tabbed them out before even coming back to apologize for the 2 hours it took to have a bar meal. honestly we should have just walked out at that point because of all the blatant rudeness. it was like we were purposefully being ignored. After working in the restaurant/bar industry for almost 8 years, this is actually unacceptable and not worth the hype. will def be telling people to avoid this location. 0 stars. maybe 1 for the wings that were decent
First, ill start off by mentioning, I’m no food critic. I’m just a dude that likes to eat food.Second, I’m born and raised within 60 minutes of where the Buffalo wing was invented - I’m surrounded by amazing chicken wings no more than a stones throw.Third, chicken wings are my favorite food…by far. I’ve eaten a lot of them in NYS and around the country. With that said, I would consider myself an expert of the wing. With all of that nonsense stated, the experience I had today was like no other. The chicken wings from peanut on Main are not only the best I’ve had in KC (they’re the only) but the best I’ve ever tasted…in my lifetime. I’ll grade the meals as opposed to the wing itself. The Chicken Wing - best wing I’ve ever had.The Buffalo Sauce - best Buffalo sauces I’ve ever had…by far.The blue cheese - leaps and bounds the best I’ve ever had.I now consider KC as the best wing in the world…BBQ is now a far after thought. Unfortunately for me I live far away and I will now have to spend my nights dreaming of these wings…until I return.Signing out - dude that likes to eat.
Best buffalo chicken wing's you can get. Anyone saying they’ve had better is clearly suffering from long covid of the taste buds.
The OG location does it right! I got their famous BLT with DOUBLE bacon. My fiance (who doesn't like bacon OR tomatoes on sandwiches) got the BLT just to try it and LOVED it. And their wings are delicious too
Great dive bar if you are interested in getting off the beaten path. I was by myself from out of town and felt like I was in my neighborhood at home. Oh, and the food was legit.
Best wings on the face of the planet. Best bleu cheese in the galaxy.I will never stop loving the Peanut. That tiger in the bathroom is a nice edition. ?
I've been eating Buffalo wings with blue cheese here ever since I was a kid. When I can eat here it's such a treat. Just keep in mind that the food is going to take a while to get done. Plan ahead!
If you are looking for a dive bar with great food (we had the huuuuuge Buffalo wings, good French fries, real nice salad and a bunch of beer) and old time atmosphere with plenty of tvs too, this is the place. We enjoyed it and watched two FB games on Saturday night. Randy worked his tail off until his nice and needed reinforcements came in to help. Fun memory for a trip from S.D. To KC.
