its terrible Porsches presentation in quality terrible

My son and daughter-in-law recently bought their first house, and it happens to be just down the street from the owner of this establishment. My wife and I, along with our daughter and other youngest son, made the trip up from Arkansas to visit. They told us about this really neat old man up the road, who came down to greet them and tell them about the neighborhood. “He owns a restaurant,” they said. So this morning, we all loaded up and went there for breakfast/lunch. I just want to say, this place is good food….really good food. I mean really good food, but it’s so much more than that. It’s that small town restaurant, where everyone grew up, the one that no matter the color of you skin, the location of your house, the size of your bank account, or political beliefs you carry, you can go inside, and you will be home. And that is because the people this fine gentlemen has working for him will make you feel that way. I watched people from all walks of life sit at tables and enjoy their meals, while being attended to by a staff, who really treats everyone the same, special. Like I said, it was breakfast/lunch, and I can never turn down breakfast. And I judge every restaurant, which serves breakfast, by one dish. That is the biscuits and gravy. I had that, along with two eggs over easy, and it was amazing. I took one bite if that gravy, and I scraped my eggs right over the top of it. I then dug in and enjoyed one of the bests breakfasts I’ve had, outside some of the women who raised me. It was so good, I regretted not going deeper into the menu, to see what this place was all about. On our our table, there was eggs, biscuits and gravy, a cheeseburger, pancakes, chicken fried steak, and hot wings, and it was all eaten. I watched a woman next to me enjoy grilled catfish. Where else are you going to find that? And again, the food wasn’t the real star. It was the people who served it to you. The people who welcomed you in the door with a smile and barked an order to the kitchen in the same breath. Our waitress smiled the most genuine smile and talked to my twenty-three-year-old daughter, my wild child, as if she had known her since the day she was born. A swift-handed gentleman kept empty plates off of our table, often so fast, you were literally putting the last bite in your mouth, as he grabbed it. When we left, a waitress, who didn’t even wait on us, said goodbye to us, as she rolled silverware in napkins. But above all, this place was the wonderful man, who walked down the street, to welcome my kids to his neighborhood. He didn’t have to do that. Most people wouldn’t these days. But he did. When you find a place like this, operated by people like this, you go there. It’s doesn’t matter the prices on the menu, you go there. You support that business, because they would dang sure do it for you.

Delicious homemade food and great service! We’ll definitely return.

I got the smoothed cops they were so good and hot and that strawberry pound cake was mmm mmm mmm. Like my grandmother pound cakes when I was a kid. My husband got the beef short ribs so tender and delicious

Always have the best staff !

I really wanted to enjoy this place because they're black-owned, but they really have to work on their customer service and make some small tweaks in the kitchen. The "host" barely said a word to us when we came into the restaurant. We were a party of 4. The restaurant was at like 10% capacity and he just points in the direction of several open tables. He didn't walk us to the table, so we just picked one and sat down. It was definitely a "Okay, that's weird" moment. Our waitress was very nice, polite, and somewhat patient with us as this was our first time. We ordered the fried fish, chicken & waffles, and smothered steak. The fish and chicken were fried very crispy which was good but they were VERY light on the seasoning! The waffle was okay, and the smothered steak was far from what I would call a "steak". Overall, the food was just okay. We probably won't go back again. I'm sure this place is great for some, but it was a significant let-down for me.

I can’t even express how welcoming and helpful the staff was from the time we walked in the door. We were seated fast even though they were so busy. Cassie was our waitress. She was amazing, genuine, cute, funny, real, attentive, prompt, clean, and very polite. My food….well I ate every bite. So good! Especially the pancakes. Coffee was fresh. I’m for sure a fan. The establishment has a cool vibe, clean, nicely decorated, homey feel. I will for sure be going back. Love you guys!!!! Oh and the price was so reasonable! Best thing with todays food costs.

the service was absolutely excellent! the food is one of a kind outstandingly to die for!!
