If you love authentic french cuisine you will love Le Fou Frog. Ask for patio. The food and service were exceptional and francaise all the way. I dined there twice in May, visiting KC. One visit was for my anniversary and my wife and i simply did not want to leave. The other visit was in a large group of folks. The baked brie and smoked trout are really good apps. Everything on entree menu was incredibly good. Did I mention the escargot-tres bien. Great wine list. French 75s perfect. Mindy was really good, and the owner a fun and sweet person.

This is not at all what I expected. It was quite different than a typical French restaurant. I found to be very informal, casual, eclectic and extremely satisfying. The staff was very down to earth and authentic. My girlfriend and I ordered the French onion soup, an appetizer of duck liver and two wonderful entrées consisting of Seabass and Gnocchi’s with seafood medley. I won’t even attempt their French spelling or pronunciation. Lol. It’s all good in my language of origin which is English. ???? you have to pardon the lighting. We sat indoors in the room had red colored lighting.

Absolutely amazing experience. It’s a small quaint spot with great food. The entire restaurant was serenaded by one of the waiters. Felt like we were in a French bistro. The service was fantastic and food even better.

We have been to France many times and Paris in particular. Who would have thought that one of my favorite French restaurants would be in Kansas City!! The restaurant was rather small so would definitely recommend reservations. Our server was fabulous, attentive and described in detail the specials of the day. There was an extensive menu and would appeal to everyone. My two lobster tails in a delicious champagne sauce was a perfect combination. The French onion soup had a flavorful broth and a must to order. My son has dined here many times and always orders the duck. The mussels appetizer and sauce was truly perfection. I order mussels quite often and these were some of the best I have ever. The crème brûlée was a superb dessert to finish a memorable meal. My French 75 cocktail tasted just as good as the one I order in New Orleans where the cocktail was invented. What a memorable meal!

Had a nice birthday dinner here, the service was spot on and staff were so attentive. Everything we ordered from the seared duck to the fresh halibut was well prepared. The goat cheese salad was my favourite dish of the night. You could taste the freshness and good cooking techniques on everything, however I thought both proteins were under seasoned, and the sautéed vegetables needed more love. This is a charming little restaurant that doesn’t feel very snooty, even though it’s very pricey. Great location.

This French kitchen doesn't look like much from the street, but the decor is eclectic and the food is fantastique! I enjoyed the escargot (in the requisite indulgently rich garlic butter), the French onion soup, and the stuffed bacon-wrapped chicken. All was delicious. The service was attentive but not overbearing, which was wonderful. If I had to come up with a critical comment, it would be that the chairs on the patio need a little more padding. Should you find yourself craving French cuisine in KC, you won't go wrong with Le Fou Frog.

Excellent food. Friendly and attentive staff. If you're looking for a quiet evening out with that special someone, this is the place. I felt the overall experience was intimate and unhurried. We enjoyed the opportunity for conversation as much as we enjoyed the food.I recommend dining at Le Fou Frog for occasions like anniversaries, birthdays, or just days ending in "y." Don't save Le Fou Frog for a special occasion, because it really should be enjoyed more often.

We dined at Le Fou Frog with friends who had dined here before. The restaurant was described as a true French restaurant from Paris. It is charming, but the poster of "Moulin Rouge," the small reproduction of the Eiffel Tower, the red balls hanging from the ceiling reminded me more of a campy take on what a French restaurant might look like. But the Food! OMG, it was very good. Such a celebration of flavors. The presentation was excellent. Our waitstaff was excellent ~ friendly and attentive. I started with the Salade de la Maison which was very good. My dining companions ordered the the French onion soup and the Cuban bean soup. Both rated their choices as delicious. They ordered the salmon entre, the "house ravioli" special, and the pork loin medallions. All described again as delicious. I dined on the suprême of chicken breast stuffed with sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese and spinach, wrapped in bacon. Absolutely lovely! A meal I will always remember and one that I would like taste again. We were too filled with our delicious entrees to order dessert, so I am unable to report on that. We dined at one of the tables in the center of the room. On my next visit, I will request a booth in advance. There was a lot of traffic with customers and waitstaff around our table which made me feel a little on the crowded side. I think a booth would give the feeling of more intimacy and privacy. I hope to return soon to experience the wonderful menu and surprises of amazing food preparation provided by this small restaurant. Definitely a "hidden gem" for many people.

Last time I reviewed this restaurant I thought it was one of the best three in Kansas City. Now it is way down not because there are so many better ones; it just it has gone down DOWN . To begin with one enter a red lighted, curtain decorated 19th century French house of ill repute perhaps in a (failed) effort to cut down the noise. That is not helped by decibels overdose by the service, customers, even the owner. Then a bare arms waitress shows up with body decoration that rivals the Louvre and El Prado including the knuckles. Is this what this town now considers high end restaurant service? Otherwise, her manner and attitude were reasonable. Going into the essence, the food. The foie gras is still there but it was served practically raw, and the goat salad had undefined greens that were somewhat tough to the palate. The sweetbreads were OK but had to ask for the sauce on the side because it would have softened their good degree of crispiness. The duck good. The tarte Tatin was judged unacceptable years ago and it has not improved. The Tatin sisters would be ashamed to lend their names to this version. The wine list remains good and the prices in resonance with others in the City. Given the noise level this bistro is not a good place for a special occasion . Otherwise, it is a place to depart from the usual Kansas City offerings different versions of not too elaborated concoctions. Definitely, a less original French version of what it started as. And we visit France at least twice a year.

The food was exquisite. A bit on the expensive side but worth it. Totally got to try soooo many new flavors here today!
