Decided to have lunch here but wasn’t too happy. Very disappointed we ordered a Molcajete and on the menu it says for two people. So we asked if we could have it just for one and the waiter/manager said it was only for two persons. So i told him to get us the molcajete for two and yes thats the side plate he brought us and said that this plate was for two people. I couldn’t believe my eyes ! Lol so i was like wow whatever decided to order another plate but the bistec ranchero had a weird taste. Wouldn’t want to eat here again.

This is a wonderful, authentic Mexican food restaurant. I enjoy our ‘local’ Mexican eateries, but most of them serve a typical Tex-Mex menu. Not Ixtapa!! I love mole and the mole pollo here is tasty. It has a bit of sweet at the beginning, then the cacao flavor comes alive, then a mild heat. This is a perfect mole. Did I mention that none of our local restaurants has a mole sauce on the menu? We absolutely enjoyed our visit to this restaurant. I read a couple of more negative reviews on this restaurant. I saw none of that on our visit. We entered the restaurant at the end of the lunch rush. All of the waitstaff were busy finishing with the lunch customers. The owner came and took our drink and menu order. He was a kind and courteous man. Overall, 5+!!! We will definitely be back.

Visited here on a date night, not really knowing what to expect. I was very impressed. This is one of those places that can highlight the flavor profile of the interior of Mexico without relying on spice to mask poor seasoning.I had the chile relennos a la crema, and my date the shrimp a la crema. Both of us loved the mild flavor. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, and we plan on making many return trips!

The food is incredible, and the staff are amazing. If you’re looking for a fantastic dinner out in KC, Ixtapa is worth the drive.

People are very friendly and always remember you when you come the next time; food is excellent and quick to the table after ordering; margaritas are excellent; great place for adults and kids; prices reasonable.

I'm not satisfied with our experience yesterday. The first issue was that the chips. They were fried in a very off-tasting, rancid oil. Completely inedible. Before trying them, we ordered guacamole as an appetizer. The waiter told us they didn't have any. Ok...We thought it odd but just ordered our dinners. The meals we ordered were bland and flavorless. Very disappointing. Not what I expect when I think of Mexican food. When they arrived at the table there was a dollop of guacamole on the side of each plate. I just don't get it...Too many things were wrong with the food to risk spending our money there again. Other than the waiter telling us there was no guacamole, the staff was knowledgeable and friendly.

Tried out this restaurant for the first time and I enjoyed the food very much. It’s more authentic and they have a much bigger selections than some of the Mexican restaurants I have been to. Waiter is very friendly and food is very healthy compare to most of the Mexican food I usually could get from others. I order pork Oaxaca and it was delicious with good Smokey flavor to the pork. The grilled chicken was also not bad if you prefer chicken. I would go back again!

I ordered the Tacos Chidos (Chicken) on my first visit and they did not disappoint! They had such great flavor! And there were 5 tacos!Bernardo was very attentive and kind as my Server.I will definitely be returning!

Probably about 4.5Extensive menu with many unique choices. Hard to decide.Less adventuresome guest will appreciate the Tex-Mex menu.Tamales were very good, tacos were delicious and fillingPrices were higher than I expected

Try the Martini Margarita- amazing! Just don’t have more than two…
