We visited late Sunday morning for brunch. We waited a while which was expected. The service was pretty slow. The food was okay. Definitely was not terrible, but was not my favorite place to brunch.

Great service! Breakfast was the best (stack of pancakes and two eggs over easy!). Coffee delicious as well. Very fair price. I’ll be back!

Great food, everything we had was top notch. The biscuits wouldn't be great standalone (to my preference, not rich enough) but are perfect for biscuits and gravy. Both types of sausage are delicious and the bacon was solid as well. Gravy was awesome as were the home fries. We'll be back!

I took a friend to lunch there during the snow storm. We both had burgers with onion rings. The price was reasonable and the food was delicious. My waitress was very nice and had a great positive attitude. What I really like is the light rail takes you right there!

City Diner is a staple of the City Market and I think was birthed from the Missouri mud fully formed. Great service with very consistent food quality. It's a little small inside and tables sot close together, so it's not for the claustrophobic. Assume you'll have a wait if you come on a weekend, but highly recommend

Its good. Biscuits and gravy is kinda my measure and these are good but not great. They're big, but could have more flavor for sure.

Some of the best pancakes I've ever had in my life!!! I ordered the #1 with bacon and it was perfect--crispy bacon and hashbrowns. Eggs were done perfect, too. Delicious coffee. Super-fast service. Just all around a perfect Saturday morning breakfast.

Poor, poor, pitiful me! This morning I had to take my car into the shop and have four new brakes put on it. Now going to the shop and having my brakes replaced always makes me hungry so when all was said and done and the tab paid, I hopped in my car and headed towards the old market. For you see, as I was sitting there waiting for them to finish the car, having nothing better to do, I started looking for restaurants in the area. An lo and behold what pops up other than The City Diner.I must have driven by that place 1000 times this since I moved to the Kansas City area in 1984. But until today I had never stopped in. So I stroll in up to their counter, grab a stool, sit my carcass down, and I ordered up a meat lovers omelet with hash browns and a biscuit. I added a little side of gravy to make the hash browns look better and taste better and there was enough left over for the omelet too.Everything came out hot and delicious and I had no problem enjoying a late but delicious breakfast.Well done City Diner!Well done indeed!

Friendly staff with a sense of humor starting with the specials menu board. High quality food, flavor, and generous portions. Firmly a diner feel without being run down or cheesy. Right next door to the City Market area and the River Trail with the historic location that initiated Kansas City.

Great little breakfast spot open since 1937. Keeping it 100 I’ve only eaten the chicken fried steak and biscuits and gravy. That being said I’ve had the CFS 3 times in 3 weeks. Don’t tell my doctor.
