not super impressed. we came on the hottest day of the year so far & there was no inside seating available to anyone which we said okay to and sat outside but still were a little apprehensive because why not? we stayed for only 3 1/2 pours for the 2 of us because we weren’t comfortable. i understand covid is still a thing but take proper precautions like the rest of your brewery neighbors & friends. also the app you have to use to order is so disconnected. didn’t really feel like we had a server or if anyone truly cared. We ordered 3 1/2 pours, an app, and people just set the stuff down and walked away, no connection, because technically they don’t need to.
Brewery Emperial is a fantastic spot to grab a drink outside on a covered & colorful patio! The beer is tasty and so are the plates. The bratwurst with sauerkraut had everyone jealous they didn’t order it. 10/10 recommend! The potato salad served with the bratwurst was fabulous. You can even order your food and drinks on an app so you don’t have to wait on the server on a busy night! If you are looking for a plate to share with the table, order a side of fries with a few different dips or the pretzel appetizer.
Fantastic beers - Biscuit, Red, Pilsener, Ursa Major, Porter, Shandy, Comet IPA, Emperial IPA... All gold. Food is great and they have a wide selection - we've had the Fish and Chips, Schnitzel Sandwich, Burger, Fries, Curried Cauliflower, and Brussel Sprouts and they've all been great. Venue is a really great outdoor area with tons of space. They've been remodeling the inside for quite some time - it'll be nice when it's finished for more options due to weather and temp outside, but they do everything they can to make the outside acceptable (heaters, fire pits, umbrellas, etc). Staff is very helpful and courteous.A lot of people's reviews are complaining about the digital ordering from your phone - honestly I found this to be super fast and efficient. When I ordered my first beer, I LITERALLY had it within 60 seconds. Plus, wait staff is probably stressed enough - if I put my order and special requests in myself, I know they'll get put in the way I want. And when you're ready to go, you just click check out and you're done! Easy. Love this brewery! Everyone should check it out, especially on a nice day!
I enjoyed the beer and the atmosphere of the outdoor space. I appreciate that the place is also dog-friendly. My companion and I didn't enjoy staring at our phones to use the self-service ordering app (which we were told we were required to use). My friend was trying to customize a burger order. There were all kinds of options to check to leave off toppings (and combinations of toppings), but no box to check to leave off mayo. I suppose ordering from a screen is fine for some but we were put off by the process (and then when checking out it defaults to a 20% tip). We ended up eating elsewhere. Unfortunately the impersonal ordering process is a deal-breaker for us.
Beer and eats are absolutely wonderful. Staff are friendly and the outdoor area is a nice spot to chill on a sunny Sunday afternoon.Would recommend the French dip, burger, Biscuit beer and crispy hand cut fries. Clean bathrooms which are always a plus when out drinking suds.
Downtown Kansas City but plenty of free parking! The Extra Special Biscuit is super tasty - malty and clean. The food menu looks great and the outdoor seating is big. Going to bring the wife and kiddos back to this one!
I have the luxury of knowing most of the owners even before bE was a thing. I am also objectively a good judge of character. I knew this business venture would be successful because of the players involved. And so it is, you will always remember the visit to bE because of the vibe so carefully curated by these tastemakers, who are top of their game, as well as natural born, talented creators. The spaces are boho chic, with a live edge bar, and cinder block walls, and plants, and, and…. The food is cooked OVER OPEN FLAME. The beer offerings are crafted by a multi gold/silver medalist at the American Beer Festival. Everything here is legit. Beer salons are not meant to be fancy. What are halls famously, historically, were, is what this is- roaring fires (did I mention the killer outdoor fire pits burning deliciously sweet firewood during chilly weather yet?), long wood tables, hearty food, and beer meant to make you feel like the king/queen of your castle. You’re a fool, to waste time at other beer spots trying to be what Brewery Emperial has always been- the perfect, feel good, unpretentious ale house. They offer digital menus, online ordering, and their beer garden’s raised portico has a solar panel roof. Do your soul a favor and remind it of that feeling of satisfaction one only gets when things are just right…. Highly recommend.
Clearly the place where the locals go. Lots of bicyclists, lots of doggos. We didn't stay for food (1hr wait at 7 on a weeknight), but you're welcome to get a "to-go" pint and hang out on the patio. Good range of mainstream options from mild to heavy, including an impressive number of GABF medalists.
“Don’t touch me!” Rob, the server, yelled these words at me immediately after I side-tipped him $20.00 for his good service. This is how my otherwise good evening ended at this wonderful establishment that I have always enjoyed visiting.Excellent food, great atmosphere, and good beer. This would be a 5-star review but for the unwarranted, aggressive outburst of Rob. Reviews are important to businesses and it is unfair to give a 1-star review, which many would justifiably give, due to the unacceptable, aggressive behavior of one person, in one instant. We were about to leave around 9pm and I happened by Rob while I walked to the patio restroom. I was discussing another round with Rob, and gave Rob a separate $20.00 bill on top of the generous tip that was part of our $150 bill. Worth every penny by the way.I lightly tapped Rob on the shoulder while saying “thank you” and he immediately squared up on me and loudly blurted, “Don’t touch me!”. Please review your security cameras from last night to verify.I was stunned and immediately walked away to the restroom. I returned and learned from the group that Rob walked over to our table, 15 seconds after his aggressive outburst, and calmly told the group that he was “keeping me out of the doghouse”, whatever that meant. I was told that Rob was cool and calm showing no indication that he just behaved physically aggressive toward me. Like it never happened. We were all perplexed. There might be a special needs thing or maybe some other type of legit social disability because I could not and still cannot understand how he could yell at another person, without justification, after being double tipped and less than 15 seconds later show no indication that he did this. Rob confided earlier in the evening that management took away his “drinking privileges for a while”. Again, I do not know what that’s about.I am former military, over 200lbs, and in pretty good shape. I was raised to say please, thank you, and to always tip food service professionals generously. Rob is a smaller young man who likely could not break a twig so I knew he could not physically harm me. This is why I walked away which your cameras will verify. That said, he WAS able to make a scene, embarrass me and ruin my night.I am still in disbelief. I wish your business all the best but I do not feel comfortable coming back if Rob is there.Respectfully submitted,
Great unique food items. We tried the brussel sprouts and garlic Parm fries and fish and chips. Would get them again. The outdoor seating was great. They have solo style fire pits and inferred heating. It's got to be really cold to not enjoy the outside. The food was very good and I would go back again, but... not regularly. The cost compared to the quantity was my issue. I bought a happy hour drink and 2 appetizers and it was about $20 and still wanted more. A friend bought our meals so if my bill was $20 for 3 items, I can't imagine his. Just don't come away expecting leftovers.
