If you’re looking for fancy, this isn’t the place for you. The inside could definitely use an update. Floors are a little slick and the tables and chairs could use some love. In that aspect, it’s a 3/5. I will say it is very nostalgic, and the pictures and memerobilia show the history of the place. Very cool. The gentleman dishing up food was great. Very friendly and encouraging of our choices! He was a 5/5!We tried the brisket and the burnt ends. Both were very tasty. Brisket comes without sauce and the burnt ends are in the Rich and Spicy I believe. The burnt ends have a great tang but not overly spicy thanks to the sauce. Brisket was nice and sliced thin, only would have liked it a little warmer. Coleslaw is a must! Potato casserole is cheesy, but I would have liked a little more salt/pepper. Luckily those are easy to give a little sprinkle. Sauces are unique and delicious. Onion rings had a nice breading but were cold and falling apart. Food for me was a 4 and we had plenty to take home. Overall it’s a staple place in KC. Happy to have come and left with a full belly!

Sausage was the best. My son loved it. He had potato salad which was very good. We also had the burnt ends which where a different style then I'm used to but not a bad choice.

very good food...service was quit different then what I'm use to but fine

Driving to Colorado wanted some real KC BBQ. SO stopped into Arthur Bryant's place. Glad we did this place makes you feel like you stepped back in time to when BBQ was king and we found the throne room. Inside was not the most clean and some may walk right out or not even walk in. But it is really good and the staff very friendly. Had some pork ribs, Baby backs and pulled pork. Everything was really good. I would recommend stepping back in time and having some real KC BBQ.

I traveled to Kansas City for a BBQ Tour and this was my first stop. I got the Burnt Ends Sandwich and Fries and they were everything I had expected. The Burnt Ends are indescribable and are as good as I had imagined and were exactly what I had salivated over when watching the Food Network over the years. Don't miss out on the Fries either. They are obviously fresh cut and are great. The portions are huge. It was all so good that I went back again the next day.

The most rude staff I have ever experienced. While in line the person taking your orders was extremely rude to the customers while taking their orders. They another staff member said something about it to him as encouraging it. Then he just got more rude with the other people in line and the staff did nothing about it. They were laughing at the customers in line. I will never eat there again.

Best BBQ I've had !!! Seasoned perfectly

Not sure I’ve ever given a 1-star review and with as popular a place this seems to be I was frankly surprised! First…almost walked out (and should have) after seeing the kitchen! It was awful! Grease and sauce everywhere. I’m not sure how it passes food safety and health inspections. The dining areas needing cleaning and updating but could look past that if everything else would have been ok. Service was meh at best. Then the food…unfortunately we threw over half of it away. The brisket looked like it was boiled, no flavor, but at least tender. The burnt ends were definitely burnt tasting and smothered in sauce that overwhelmed any flavor of the meat. The Cole slaw was extremely sloppy, tasted like mayo more than anything and the picture doesn’t even do justice to how unappetizing it looked. The potato salad wasn’t bad but nothing I can’t get from Walmart. And the BBQ sauces…tasted more like ketchup than anything else. Overall, id tell people to stay away. There’s definitely better in KC for BBQ. Way better.

On a road trip decided to stop at a nice BBQ joint in KC. Ordered ribs, chicken & fries , they were out of chicken strips for the kiddo’s. Never been here first time. As the server prepared my ribs he literally held up a slab (not sure where he got it from) but he asked me was I sure I wanted them … like what ?? I didn’t know what to say to that. Anyway we got our food and all of the meat was dried out the same way fruit dries in the sun & it was cold. Very disappointed because we spent $60.00. I’m a great cook and I know good food . This meat and fries were at least two days old. Just Horrible ! & we were so ready to eat after a long ride, truly disappointing.

I was there for work and got to visit twice. I got the pulled pork the first day and burnt ends the next. Very nice portions and the bbq beans are really good. The old places were my favorite by far. Well worth the visit. Loved the old pictures on the walls. My top 2 of KC
